The Pirates took a tough loss at home after leading by double digits at halftime, following a weak second half where they had a hard time scoring against a more experienced Wetterbygden. Coach Lou: We started off the game with a lot of energy and speed and were getting stops that led to transition points. In the second half of the game, we struggled to stop their big guy, who created a lot of problems in both paint areas. He was dropping very low in pick-and-roll actions and patrolling the paint on defense, which made it tough for us to score. Obviously, this was the same tactic many teams used against us last season, but once we start shooting better from the arc, solutions are going to be scarce for everyone. Nemanja also presented a big threat on offense, where he demanded too much attention for our team to be able to scramble every defensive possession, and points started leaking in. We will obviously watch tape, demand higher intensity on both ends of the floor from ourselves, and move forward. There is a lot of talent on this team, and we just need to utilize our strengths better. Go Pirates.
