CAMP ONKA!
With many rivers in Norway closing in the near future, here’s a tip for anyone looking for another great salmon fishing opportunity this summer in Scandinavia.

For the first time, Camp Onka on the Lainio River in Swedish Lapland has opened up a limited number of fishing permits during selected weeks.

Camp Onka holds fishing rights to approximately 10 kilometres of the Lainio River, including some of the river’s best-known and most attractive salmon fishing stretches. Normally, these waters are only available to guests booking Camp Onka’s guided fishing weeks, but this year anglers have the opportunity to fish independently for a limited number of days.

The salmon run is also looking very promising this season. According to the latest statistics from Luke, more than 33,000 salmon have already passed the counting station in the Torne River system. That’s the highest number recorded at this point in the season over the past five years, and significantly more than in both 2024 and 2025.

Fishing permits are available:

* Weeks 30, 32 & 35
* Fly fishing only
* Maximum 8 anglers per day
* SEK 800 per day

For anyone looking for an alternative to salmon fishing in Norway, this is a great opportunity to experience the Lainio River during a season that has started exceptionally strong.

Grindal Salmon Lodge

Joaquin (17) from Oregon had an unforgettable moment in Igdhølen this week, landing his very first salmon! 🎣✨

Today brought even more excitement, with two more salmon landed – one in Gamshølen and one in Korshølen.

Unfortunately, the Norwegian authorities have decided to close several local rivers from August 1st, and our beloved Orkla is one of them. 💔

Guests affected by these closures will, of course, receive a refund in accordance with their booking agreement. We expect to have contacted everyone affected within the coming week.

Dreams do come true!

After years of fishing for Atlantic salmon around the world, I finally landed my first salmon in Canada. An unforgettable moment shared with my great fishing friend Hadi and our guide Morgan Morgan Ozolins at Restigouche River Lodge

The Restigouche is one of those legendary rivers every salmon angler dreams about, and to experience it with great company made it even more special. The fish may not have been the biggest, but it will always be one of the most memorable.

Thank you Morgan for your hard work and guidance, and thank you Hadi for sharing another incredible fishing adventure.

Canada – first salmon landed. Hopefully the first of many!
