Sleep late + still go for supper… next day confirm feel like zombie.
A lot of people think it’s “age” or “work stress”.
Sometimes it’s simpler: your body wanted to recover, but you made it OT digesting.
In Singapore, the usual midnight combo:
Prata / maggi goreng / nasi lemak / lok lok + sweet drink
Nice in the moment… but it can quietly mess with your sleep quality.
Why you wake up s**g
When you eat heavy, oily, salty food right before bed:
• digestion stays “ON” longer
• heart rate stays higher
• deep sleep gets interrupted
• next morning: bloated, brain blur, body heavy
Not just “food coma”.
It’s recovery quality drop.
Realistic fix (not preachy)
Supper once in a while can lah.
But if it’s every week, try this:
• keep portion smaller (share 1 plate)
• stop the “2–3 plates + sweet drink” combo
• last big meal 2–3 hours before sleep if possible
• if hungry late: go lighter (soup, fruit, yogurt, protein snack)
Supper is not the main problem.
Frequent late heavy supper + lack of sleep = the real killer.
What’s your most common “late night supper” in SG? 😅🌙
