KEY ANNOUNCEMENT!

To our Singapore Armwrestling family,

We would like to share an important update with our community.

Our athletes were placed on the suspension list (2024) of the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF), which meant that, without intervention, Singapore athletes would not have been able to compete internationally under the Singapore flag.

The new SGAW Exco stepped in on behalf of our athletes and community in July 2025. WE made the difficult decision to pay $1,500 to WAF to lift the suspension. It was to restore Singapore’s eligibility to participate in international competitions.

As a self-funded and volunteer-driven organisation with no government funding or institutional subsidies, this was not an easy decision. Every dollar raised by SGAW comes through the collective efforts of our volunteers, members, partners, sponsors, and supporters - whether in cash sponsorships, venue support, logistics, or services in kind. This payment was made because we believe Singapore athletes deserve the opportunity to compete proudly on the world stage.

At the same time, SGAW will also be implementing an official policy direction aligned with the standards and representation framework of the Major Games movement.

In line with the representation policies commonly practised at the SEA Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympic Games, and Olympic Games, only Singapore Citizens will be eligible to officially represent Singapore at major international armwrestling events moving forward. This direction will apply to competitions and events organised or sanctioned by both the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) and the Asian Armwrestling Federation (AAF).

This SGAW directive will officially take effect from 8.30pm on 5 June 2026.

These decisions were not made lightly. They reflect SGAW’s continued commitment to strengthening the legitimacy, integrity, and long-term future of Singapore Armwrestling on the international stage.

We thank every member of our community for your passion, trust, sacrifice, and unwavering support. Together, we will continue building a strong, united, and respected armwrestling legacy for Singapore.

Singapore Armwrestling is incredibly proud to announce the official launch of the Singapore Armwrestling Referees Committee (SGAWRC)! 🦾

As our sport continues to grow rapidly, maintaining the absolute highest standards of fairness, safety, and professionalism on the table is our top priority. The establishment of this dedicated committee marks a massive step forward for the credibility and long-term development of armwrestling in Singapore.

Operating under the SGAW Executive Committee, the SGAWRC will assist in overseeing:

📚 Referee development & certification
⏱️ Competition operations & appointments
⚖️ Maintaining discipline & standards

The SGAWRC is committed to upholding the highest level of standards and integrity for the sport we all love.

Singapore Armwrestling has appointed Greg Yeo—a veteran of the Singaporean armwrestling scene—as Chairperson of the committee. Greg previously served as Tournament Director for the 2025 Singapore Armwrestling Open, and has been tasked with leading the charge in raising the standard of officiating in Singapore. Thank you for stepping up to guide the future of our sport! 🤝

Dear SGAW Community,

The official RESULTS of the recent SGAW YOUTH Championships 2026 AND the NEW National Rankings, have all been updated and posted by our Gen Sec, Jasper Chan.

It also appears that LIONEL Yeo's haul of 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze (in the Youths), has helped him TOP all 4 Ranking Lists :)

More than 500 pax managed to catch SGAW's Youth Championships 2026 at Cosford Container Park yesterday.

From 1pm to 7pm, the SGAW Community and members of the public, witnessed close to 45 armwrestlers compete for Medals, Trophies, National Ranking Points and Bragging rights :)

The Youths event was followed up by another monster feature - the 1st-ever HAO YAO CHALLENGE TROPHY. The 11 athletes came together for the 1st time, discovered their matchup pairings after a Live draw on stage, and they headed into BATTLE for 3 coveted Trophies :)

Less than 6 Hours to the start of the 2026 SGAW YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Taking place LIVE from the exciting entertainment venue in the east ie Cosford Container Park, this Tier-1 event kicks off at 1230pm! This includes 35 Athletes aged 14-23 compete for Medals, Glory and National Ranking Points, across several weight classes.

Then at 6pm, it's a brand new and BOLD event, the HAO YAO CHALLENGE TROPHY 2026! 12 Men have signed up in this OPEN-Challenge format, to compete for the BIGGEST Trophies in SGAW's History. Costing $550, the 3 Trophies will finally be unveiled close to this Tier-2 ranked Event's Start time! Similarly, the Identities of all 12 Combatants (Matchups) will only be fully known during the Live DRAW at 5pm.

Thus, it's more than 7 hours of ARMWRESTING action featuring 45 athletes. So come on down, and check out the "Wellness & Finess Festival" at Cosford. Brunch Menu items are available at 1130am, while the LUNCH Menu starts at 1pm.
There are several food options (NO Pork or Lard), as well as specially curated delights for this weekend (See Below).

These are double-elimination matchups. If you don't see your name in a certain Weight class, it means, not enough of Pullers. Thus, you were "promoted" to the next available class with a minimum of 3 competitors. Following the Weighins on Event Day, athletes can also be "bumped up", should they be heavier than the initial class applied for.

BUT if you are lighter in weight, you will remain in the current weight class that you applied for (as long as 3 competitors in your event).
