Most players think they miss returns because of their technique.
Usually, that’s not the problem.
The mistake happens before they even hit the ball.
They stand too close to the baseline.
They react too late.
They swing too hard.
A good return doesn’t need to be fancy.
It needs to be deep.
A deep return keeps your opponents back, buys you time to get to the kitchen, and immediately puts pressure on the serving team.
The next time you return:
• Start in an athletic ready position
• Watch the ball all the way onto your paddle
• Focus on depth, not power
• Hit with margin over the net
• Move towards the kitchen immediately after contact
The goal isn’t to hit a winner.
The goal is to make the third shot harder.
Do that consistently and you’ll win far more points than trying to hit the perfect return.
What’s the biggest challenge with your return: depth, consistency, or getting to the kitchen in time?

The best drives in pickleball are controlled aggression.
Part 3: What advanced players do differently
Advanced players understand when to drive and when not to.

They:
• Attack shorter balls
• Drive with topspin for margin and dip
• Aim at the body or feet
• Use drives to create weak pop-ups
• Transition forward after the shot
The goal of the drive is not necessarily to hit a winner.
The goal is to create an easier fifth shot, an easier volley, or a weaker ball you can attack next.
Controlled pressure wins far more points than reckless power.

No support is greater than… paying FULL price. 🤪💰
Respect a business owner’s expertise enough to pay for it if it’s valuable to you. Respect their time enough not to consume it if you’re not serious.
If you want to support a small business, support them wholeheartedly. Pay in full, and appreciate the time, expertise, effort, and pain that went into creating those products and services.
Being a founder means putting all your unhealed parts out there. You expose your anxiety, your fears, your insecurities, and really, you’re putting yourself up for judgment. 🫣
Small businesses like us don’t have unlimited time, resources, or team members. Most of the time, we’re doing everything ourselves: from replying to customer service, building the website, and handling payments to, yes, even washing the toilet. 🚽🪠
(Lol, yes, I have washed toilets as part of my job.)
No one hurt me, but this video is for the:
• Fake supporter who claims solidarity but won’t pay
• Time waster who asks everything and buys nothing
• People who were never going to support you
Of course, you don’t have to buy from a friend just because they’re your friend. You’re free to spend your money however you want, whether it’s on competitors or big businesses.
That’s fine.
What we do need, as small business owners, is for people to be thoughtful of our time and expertise.
P. S. If a friend’s product isn’t for you but you want to support them:
• Refer them clients
• Promote or share their work
• Like / Comment on it
• Send them encouragement & love ❤️

Most people are driving the ball too late, too high, and too hard. If your drives keep flying out, this is probably why.
Part 2: Common mistakes players make
A lot of players:
• Swing too big
• Lean backwards
• Hit too upright
• Drive from poor positioning
• Use only their arms instead of their legs and body rotation
Learning pickleball? Follow for pickleball tips, drills, strategy & smarter gameplay. 🏓
The drive should come from your lower body and timing, not just brute force.
A few important reminders:
• Stay low
• Bend your knees
• Make contact in front of your body
• Rotate through the shot
• Recover quickly after the drive
Your drive is not the end of the point.
It’s the setup for the next shot.

Better pickleball starts with mastering the drive.
Part 1: What makes a good pickleball drive?
A good drive is not about smashing the ball as hard as possible.
It’s about creating pressure, staying consistent, and forcing weak returns.
Learning pickleball? Follow for pickleball tips, drills, strategy & smarter gameplay. 🏓
The best drives are:
• Low over the net
• Deep toward your opponent’s feet
• Controlled, not wild
• Hit with balance and intention
Most players try to overpower the ball and end up:
• Hitting into the net
• Launching the ball out
• Losing control of the rally
• Giving opponents easy counters
Power without control is useless in pickleball.
Look out for part 2 and 3!
