Each instrument carries its own voice.

Some shimmer like a gentle breeze. Some resonate deep within the body. Some invite stillness, while others create a sense of spaciousness.

In a sound bath, these sounds are not merely heard—they are experienced.

A small glimpse into the many sounds that come together to create a space for calm and clarity.

Have you ever felt frustrated when a pose doesn't improve, when your mind won't settle, or when progress seems slow?

You're not alone.

Yoga Sutra 1.12 offers a timeless teaching for every practitioner: cultivate both steady practice and the wisdom to let go.

Practice & Detachment go hand-in-hand.
— Yoga Sutra 1.12

Many of us come to yoga seeking flexibility, strength, or peace of mind. Yet, Sage Patanjali reminds us that a calm and steady mind is cultivated through two complementary disciplines:

Abhyāsa — sincere and sustained practice.
Showing up again and again with dedication, patience, and commitment.

Vairāgya — non-attachment and inner freedom.
Practising wholeheartedly while gradually letting go of craving, expectations, and the need to control every outcome.

Practice without non-attachment can keep the mind restless and always seeking.

Non-attachment without practice becomes passivity.

Yoga invites us to walk the middle path:

1. Practise with sincerity.
2. Trust the process.
3. Let go of clinging.
4. Rest in equanimity.

Perhaps this is one of yoga's deepest lessons—not only on the mat, but in life itself.

Keep practising. Keep letting go.

अभ्यासवैराग्याभ्यां तन्निरोधः
Abhyāsa-Vairāgyābhyām Tan-Nirodhaḥ

"Through practice and non-attachment, the fluctuations of the mind are stilled."
— Yoga Sutra 1.12

International Day of Yoga 2026 | Fort Canning Park, Singapore 🇸🇬

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us this morning to celebrate the International Day of Yoga.

It was a beautiful gathering of yogis, families, and friends coming together to move, breathe, and share the joy of yoga in nature.

This year's theme, "Yoga for Healthy Aging," reminds us that healthy ageing is not merely about adding years to life, but about living with vitality, mobility, balance, independence, and joy. It is also a message that resonates strongly with Singapore's emphasis on preventive health, active ageing, and building healthier communities.

Observed globally on 21 June, International Day of Yoga celebrates yoga as a timeless gift to humanity—one that transcends age, culture, and boundaries, and continues to support physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

On behalf of Unika Yoga & Therapy Singapore, thank you for sharing your presence, energy, and practice with us. A special note of appreciation to our volunteers and supporters whose time and efforts helped make this celebration possible.

We are deeply grateful to have celebrated this meaningful day together.

May the spirit of yoga continue to inspire us to live with greater awareness, compassion, and wellbeing.

Happy International Day of Yoga 2026.
