Here's a simplified breakdown:
Caloric Deficit: Weight loss fundamentally relies on burning more calories than you consume. This creates a caloric deficit, prompting the body to tap into stored energy (fat) for fuel.
(*But some may agree that even with a calorie deficit, weight loss may still not happen! Yes,that's right, sometimes it is more complicated, talk to us!)
Metabolism: Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) represents the energy your body needs at rest. Increasing muscle mass through exercise can boost BMR, enhancing calorie burn even when not active.
(*Have you heard some skinny friends saying that their metabolism is very "fast" . Thushey don't easily gain weight? This is actually not the most correct understanding of metabolism, there is hardly any truth to his/her metabolism rate being FAST, rather, the more important factor in this case, is the ability to absorb)
Nutrient Balance: The types of calories matter. A balanced diet with adequate protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs ensures proper nutrition while supporting weight loss.
(*A recommended daily intake can be split into 40% protein 30% carbs and 30% health fats)
