Gong Xi Fa Cai to one and all celebrating the Lunar New Year! May families come together and relationships be strengthened positively, May all be showered with abundance but not excess, joy and gratitude to our Lord.
May all projects and endeavours be met with tremendous success and we remember to give back to the less fortunate so they too experience and share the joy and fruits of our successes.
Wishing for health and vitality to be upon everyone and that we may also undertake to care for our own well-being and that of those we are guardians to with compassion and love.
God Bless! πππππ

A lovely variation that works unilateral gait patterning, opens the chest and throat, lengthens the thighs and overall improves computer head & neck while toning where we need (yep - your flutes and hamstrings).
Oh and for me- see where my thumb needs to be? Well that helps with the activation of my arch under the first ray where the connective tissue and foot muscles need it most )π₯π

More to come@in the next days!
Thanks for such hospitality and lovely to see all my ex-colleagues from there too!
Looking forward to the next few days of fun and movement π₯π₯π₯

Side lying ( Hook lying) position for abductor activation. I use this in conjunction with the straight limb variation . Or alone in lieu of straight leg abduction if the client needs to really focus on Lumbo-pelvic stability and being able to differentiate between lumbar spine and hip joint. Most people are not aware that moving the hips like this ( like the opening of a book page and controlling the return phase requires that the pelvis ( were the pants line meets the bum) needs to be stable and not roll back and forth while our femur is moving.
I took this video for my client to observe and replay as homework and free the yellow line to represent an imaginary line through her horizontal spine to the base of coccyx ( tailbone ) so she could use the visual image to guide her perception and mapping of her own spinal position as she practices it at home.
Because we are managing some flare ups owing to mild sub-chondral wear, i regressed her homework to the short lever variation until she has built some more endurance and stability in the Glute Medius complex , after which we will reintroduce the long lever variation and others .

π Long time since Iβve had a chance to post any exercise photos. Usually it is because I am so busy teaching and / spotting clients that I forget to grab a camera moment!!
Here I am tonight, finishing off the day with full body extension on the pilates ladder barrel - this exercise requires a balanced extension through the entire spinal column, coupled with hip extension (and in this case ankle dorsiflexion.)
The flow of the exercise is just beautiful and soooo thoroughly juicy- one of my all time favourites ππ₯°
When I first started my own pilates journey, my own thoracic spine (to which the rib cage attaches) was soooo ridiculously stiff from all manner of sports! π ππ½ββοΈββ‘οΈπ€Ύπ½π§πΌπ΄ββοΈ
How different it feels today !!! And my body desires (not dreads) it!! π
Yes when one part of the spine is stiff, other areas of that column will compensate by hyperextending or locking up. Similarly the glutes must be able to participate in supporting hip extension.
