The National Rover Council (NRC) would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Being the season of giving, the NRC would like to present to all Rovers our gift that we have been working on the past year.
We have heard your feedback and in line with the Youth Programme 2030 Framework, we are excited to share with all of you the new Rover Journey materials!
Want to get your hands on this amazing gift? Reach out to your Area Reps or check out the link in our bio!
Background:
The Revised Rover Journey was developed by the Rover Journey Working Group (RJWG) made out of Rovers from all Areas, along with past and present NRC members. This team has worked hard since its formation after NRR + AGM 2023, conducting focus groups and seeking feedback from Ventures and Rovers to create these materials.

From outdoor challenges to meaningful community service, over 40 Young Adults from Girl Guides Singapore and Ventures and Rovers from the Singapore Scout Association came together for an exciting 2D1N adventure on 7-8 December 2024.
Day 1 was all about skill-sharing and collaboration! The Ventures and Rovers taught map reading and pioneering skills during an Outdoor Challenge around Bishan, while the Young Adults introduced the WAGGGS Leadership Mindsets, focusing on critical thinking and teamwork. The day wrapped up with a heartwarming campfire, filled with songs and newfound friendships.
Day 2 embodied the spirit of service, as participants hosted seniors from St Lukeās ElderCare Active Ageing Centre (Care) @ Bishan at SSA HQ, and visited seniors at Sree Narayana Mission Home. Through games, singalongs, and walks with the seniors, the youths shared laughter, joy, and lasting memories.
A big thank you to Sree Narayana Mission Home and St Lukeās ElderCare Active Ageing Centre (Care) @ Bishan for allowing us to connect and give back.

Our final awardee for BPA 2024 isā¦
Name: Aiman Johari
Crew: Black Knights Air Scout Wing (Open)
My Journey since 2020 has been a transformative experience, shaping my values and perspectives in ways I hadnāt imagined. The journey was more than meeting requirements; it was a pathway of personal growth, community connection, and self-discovery. In this journey, I am exposed to the book āRovering to Successā which covers many chapters called the āRocksāāobstacles on the path to success that challenge us and build resilience. These Rocks reminded me to stay grounded, focus on purpose, and develop patience, each one shaping me into a stronger person.
Participating in service projects, tackling outdoor adventures, and working alongside my peers has taught me the value of teamwork and the importance of perseverance. In each experience, I discovered the deep satisfaction that comes from lifting others up and being part of a larger purpose. Whether it was learning new skills, serving my community, or sharing in the joys and challenges with my fellow Rovers, these moments became a true test of character.
Looking back, Iām incredibly grateful for the friendships, mentorship, and support that have been with me throughout this journey. Rovering has given me a strong sense of responsibility to carry these values forward, not only as a Rover but as someone dedicated to making a positive impact.

Next up we have all the way from the Eastā¦
Name: Nur Ameerah
Crew: Oneida Scout Group
Rovering became a sanctuary, a way to escape the routine of everyday life and bond with friends over shared experiences that we likely wouldnāt have had if we werenāt part of this unique group. The past few years have been an emotional rollercoaster, filled with moments that will stay with me foreverāwhether they were joyful, sorrowful, or frustrating. The laughter, tears, and everything in between shaped me into who I am today, and I wouldnāt change a single thing. Every choice, challenge, and triumph came with invaluable lessons that I could never have learned elsewhere. The sense of growth and camaraderie that Rovering fostered is something Iāll cherish for a lifetime.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to my unit ā especially my kids ā and area for their unwavering support. Whether I needed advice, comfort, or just a reason to smile, they were always there. The sense of belonging and love I felt from them kept me going even during the hardest times. I know I say this often, but I truly mean it: I love you all so much, and I couldnāt have made it through without your constant encouragement and support. Youāve all made this journey unforgettable.

Our third awardee this year we haveā¦
Name: Goh Kah Meng
Crew: Edgefield Scout Group
I am Kah Meng from Edgefield Scout Group. My Scouting Journey began ever since I was a Cub Scout and becoming a Rover Scout after Venturing just seemed like a natural progression for me to continue Scouting.
What I did not expect, however, was the new frontiers that the Rover Journey presented for me. I have had the opportunity to experience Scouting beyond what I was familiar with, and I was challenged and had my horizons expanded both as a Scout and an individual. Along the way, I have had the privilege of meeting mentors and friends who have guided and supported me, helping me navigate my growth. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that Rovering has provided and for the encouragement that led me to achieve the BPA today.

Our next awardee this year isā¦
Name: Leonard Ang
Crew: Beatty Beaver Scout Group
Hi, Iām Leonard Ang from Beatty Beaver in the South area, currently serving in National Service. Before this, I studied Mechanical Engineering at Singapore Polytechnic and ran competitively with the track and field team for two years. I began my Scouting journey in secondary school and continued into Rovering, drawn by my connection with my leaders and my passion for mentoring younger Scouts.
My Rovering journey has been rooted in Character Development. Through it, Iāve gained resilience, discipline, and a greater appreciation for service. As a Rover, Iāve enjoyed mentoring Scouts, sharing my knowledge, and guiding them in skills like pioneering and physical training. During track, I was the only senior experienced in the steeplechase, so I helped my juniors with techniques and training, passing down my insights from competition.
A major challenge was completing my first half marathon. The rigorous training required discipline and mental resilience, pushing me beyond my limits.
Volunteering at Willing Hearts was also meaningful, as we prepared meals and handled logistics for those in need. This experience helped me appreciate my own privileges and deepened my commitment to serving others.
Overall, Rovering has transformed my character and helped me grow both mentally and emotionally.

The Baden Powell Award (BPA) is the highest award attainable by youth members in the Singapore Scout Association. It represents a pinnacle achievement Rover Scouts work towards on their Scouting journey.
This award is named after Lord Baden Powell, who was the founder of the Scout Movement, and it is hoped that naming the Award after him will remind award recipients of their responsibility to uphold the ideals espoused by Lord Baden Powell in their thoughts, words and deeds forever more.
2024 also marks the final year the BPA will be awarded at the end of the Rover Journey. Starting 2025, the pinnacle award for Rover Scouts will be the Presidentās Scout Award (Rover) and the BPA will be revamped as a commendation award for youth who have made exceptional contributions or impact within their communities.
15/11/2024
Hi everyone! I am Briant, a Rover Scout from Beatty Beaver Rover Crew! My Rover Journey began after Secondary School as I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and learn new things.
It was truly an inspiring journey as it allowed me to learn many new skills during the process, some of which included knotting at an advanced level, leading my unit and forging new friendships!
Rovering has instilled a sense of transition into adulthood in a healthy manner as most of the activities organised were self initiated, allowing us to learn during the process of planning and executing them!
