Long post ahead📝
I’ve been asked how do I corner fighters and what goes through my head when I corner my guys so these are the things that are very important to me when I am at the corner.

Giving your fighters technical advice by keeping it short and sweet. I always make sure there is ONLY one voice shouting, I can’t control the crowd nor the music but day in day out training, your fighters should be able to filter out your voice. Help your fighter win by looking for holes in the opponent game, you should know what are your fighter’s strengths and weaknesses to be able to call out certain techniques and game plan based on each fighter’s style.

Stay calm, not corner your fighters with emotions. They can feel it if you’re anxious or stressed out, especially when they are losing. They need your help to see what they can’t see and a voice to get them thru a tough fight.

A good coach / corner can turn the tables from a loss to a win, trust and bond between coach and fighter have to be strong and present.

Do feel free to reach for out if you’re feeling stagnant or stuck with ur current progress, I am always happy to share my experiences to help you out 🥊

Terrence went up a weight class tonight and managed to win the WBC National title via unanimous decision and Xuan Yun dominated all 5 rounds to win the WBC International title via unanimous decision as well. Very grateful for to give us the opportunity to fight against an experienced opponent and good friend, Vernon, who gave Terrence a hard fight. We had to adapt and change game plan a few times in between rounds. Xuan Yun round her rhythm and range after round 1 to start landing her hands, super proud of her for sticking to the game plan and staying calm to close up the distance to land heavy hands and elbows. On to the next one !! Terrence will be flying to Greece to represent Singapore in the IFMA world games one week later 🇸🇬

There are levels to the game 🧠♟️

Worked together for this fight camp, we took a different approach than her usual fight camp, we focused a lot on specific drills and sparring. We also worked on visualisation and the mental aspect leading up to fight week. She was always known as a kicker and counter fighter, so for this fight I wanted to made sure she initiated and dished out damage with her punches and long knee on the way into the clinch. Super proud of this girl for showing everyone that she is not a one dimensional fighter, to more fight camps🔥🥊🏆

To all losers out there, I just wanna let you guys know, it won’t be this way forever. Jeryl lost his first fight by knock out then went on to lose his second fight by points, worked his ass off then went on to win 3 consecutive fights. Got his big break to represent Singapore in the world games, last min decision to debut pro after reaching Thailand then managed to win Germany and then lost to Taiwan in the finals in the same week. Then on Saturday, he fought 2 opponents within the same day to get his first ever Super 4 title belt. Sometimes people only see the end but not the process the person went through. Never give up and maybe your dreams might just come true

Terrence and Jeryl won their super 4 title belts and Audrey did not manage get the win but had her best fight performance yet! I have a lot of people to thank so here goes.
Firstly, thank you and for giving us 3 opportunities to fight for the title. Also, those who came by the gym to spar with Terrence and Jeryl. Also, and for being Audrey’s training partner. My cornermen and for the help. And almost a hundred Ghetto supporters came down today to support them even though it was a long ass day.

How Muay Thai changed my life.

When i was young i was skinny and scrawny , maybe that was the reason why i was bullied. I’ve always liked action movies or fighting scenes , i guess that was something i dreamed of doing or wanting to be the guy in the show kicking ass. As cliche as it sounds , i was a victim of bullying and there was a limit to everything.

So i went on to look for lessons or people online who could introduce me to martial arts or self defense. It did not take me long to find someone on friendster who knew martial arts. He had been learning Muay Thai for awhile and offered me to bring me to his training.

It was exciting at first but slowly became more intimidating as the days went by before i was going to start my first lesson, i remember walking nervously to meet the guy from friendster for the first time and also to have my first lesson. There i met Master Johnnie from Hilltop Muay Thai in the year 2003.

In 2012 , I join IMPACT MMA as a Muay Thai coach along side Singapore’s best coaches from all other martial arts and discipline. ( MMA , BJJ , WRESTLING, SANDA and MUAY THAI )
