πΎπΎ Forehand and Backhand lateral movement ladder drill πΎπΎ
This drill focuses on a few main points:
1. Lateral & controlled movement while moving with two hands on the racket.
2. Unit turn on the move while opening the racket to the back.
3. Stepping in to the ball and swinging through. Notice the pivoting happens after the swing in to the ball based on the momentum used on the swing
Although this example is a shadowed example, the minute the player leaves the last square of the ladder, you should throw the ball for them to start points 2 & 3. This drill can be used by any player level. To make it harder, move faster and add resistance bands to your legs.
I'll back to posting content on drills, warm ups, exercises and some whacky tennis too! Let me know in the comments what you would like help on ππ½ππ½

Coach Ishaan demonstrating forehands and backhands and the emphasis of using your legs and focusing on following the height of the ball. Note the importance of the launch off the pivot - watch how the backfoot comes forward with the front foot pivoting. This should be done by pure momentum after striking the ball π
Look at these little Divas go! Even after a two week hiatus due to rain, they got straight back into it from where they left off ππ½π

We braved the midday heat to have our session and it's a good thing we did because these kids were on fire today π₯π₯
When it comes to training kids, I use a lot of cone drills and movement drills to keep them active. Most of the kids train with me one hour a week so in order to for them to get the most out of the session, I try to combine technique, movement, discipline and fun into the session. The first 45-50 minutes are usually focused on tennis and the last 10-15 mins are game focused or agility focused!

As a coach of any sort you try to positively influence your trainees & students. For me, it can be on and off court. Positive reinforcement while learning is extremely important, especially for children and it pays off in amazing ways most of the time π
Rahul has been training with me for a month and a bit. His mother sent me this photo of him the other day where he was imitating everything I do, from the way I walk in to the tennis court with my bag and basket of tennis balls right down to my accent too π He was using the training methods I use on him to coach his 4 year old sister at home π
