One of our last job. A rounded bolt that cannot be removed. Due to the internal routing and the snug housing hole size, the hardware needs to be removed before routing can be achieved.
Herein, the rounded bolt was drilled thru after bolt extractor has failed. The rivet nut hole was inspected & found to be widen. The hole was patched and shaped, strength further before inserting the rivet nut.
A slow process as each stage was checked, inspected, and escalated to the next plan whenever the basic options are exhausted.
After a few hours, we are glad that the operation was successful.
Bolt extraction is not as straight forward as it seems sometimes.

Dear customers, after 60 years in the bicycle industry, we have decided to cease our operation by the end of DEC 2023. It is our pleasure meeting & serving people from various riding disciplines, all trades of life, both locals and overseas. It is a great adventure, journey and experience. We thank you all.

Servicing a tampered equipment does not fall within the warranty category. While nothing was replaced, the time and labour, effort to check thru, and tune are still chargeable especially when it requires almost an hour or more.

Stripping and servicing Alfine 8 speed hub.
Grease were replaced before dunking it in oil.
It’s a pity that we didn’t manage to take all the photos as hands were greasy during work. 😑

When crank arm bolts snap into 2 & needs extraction.
The 2 bolts were successfully extracted after few attempts and the crank arm bolt holes were tapped to clean up any debris or inconsistencies in the threads there after.
The broken pieces were found to have various hardness during drilling at different depth.
