🌿 Reiki Outreach Clinic: An Inclusive Community of Care 🌿
Healing happens in community.
Our Reiki Outreach Clinic brings together practitioners from all teachers and lineages, united by a shared purpose: to support seniors at Active Ageing Centres with presence, warmth, and care.
Started since Sep 2023, this is the impact so far.

Through Reiki, we create a space where everyone—seniors, volunteers, and practitioners—can feel seen, supported, and connected.
A heartfelt thank you to our volunteers for embodying wisdom, courage, and compassion in every session. Your presence makes a difference, and together, we are building a kinder, more connected community.

Big thanks to all the volunteers and participants of the Reiki Clinic Outreach at Joo Chiat CC. So great to see your interest and enthusiasm for Reiki.
Other ongoing Reiki Clinic Outreach initiatives include centres in Geylang East and Compassvale.
This is part of our initiative ingrained within our ethos. The aim is to bring reiki, movement, breath & mindfulness to under-served communities in a sustainable and compassionate way.

Usui Reiki Principles
The biggest standout of Usui Reiki is that the practice is imbibed with 5 key principles - so vital that they were engraved on Mikao Usui's memorial tombstone.
Simple, but not easy to practice and live by them.
Roughly translated as
“The secret method of summoning happiness, the miracle drug of all disease: Today only, do not anger, do not worry, be grateful, fulfil duties, be kind to people”

Big thank you to the Tapestries of Grief team for the honour and privilege to hold space for the participants of the annual festival.
We introduced the importance of somatic movement and mindfulness to a group of bereaved mothers, highlighting the deep connection between unprocessed emotions and how they can sit in our bodies. https://www.tapestriesofgrief2022.com/workshops
One participant with chronic back pain remarked that she had seen a range of professionals for her issue, with little respite. However in this session where she finally understood the psycho-somatic connection, and allowed her body a full deliberate rest, her pain reduced considerably. It was a lightbulb moment for her in navigating her grief journey.
Another participant started having a bout of hiccups midway through the movements. While we advised that this can potentially be part of the release from the body, there is understandably some mild anxiety when the hiccups refused to abate. During the practice, we offered options to honour the release, and to allow the hiccups to run its course, which it did, right at the very end. The participant felt a sense of lightness, and surprise at the mode of release, as she thought that she had already processed most of her grief.

"I have always thought that my body is injured. I learnt after the session that my body is just exhausted and tired from grieving. Attending this healing workshop taught me and made me realised that my body need to rest and to relax. Now I know how to stretch and relax my body to release the body tension."
"Compassion for self is important. Grief is physical as well as emotional."

So great to learn that DBS Group has an experimental wellness space with "...sleep pods where workers can take a short nap, a reading corner with relaxing music and yoga mats in front of a window with sweeping views of the city skyline"
This initiative to go beyond band-aid solutions in redesigning workplaces to cater to the emotional, and mental health of post-pandemic employees is definitely laudable. Incorporating specific opportunities for is THE way to go.

Many years ago, when I first heard that there was someone from Singapore attending an ongoing Forrest Yoga teachers' training, I s̶t̶a̶l̶k̶e̶d̶ tracked him down. *grin* We arranged to meet up the minute he returned because I was so excited that that our Forrest Yoga community is growing!
YJ has always been a huge supporter of exhale, always saying YES! to teaching in-studio and a solid rock during the pandemic, doing online classes to help spread the love of Forrest Yoga.
We both share similar values and Ana Forrest's vision of "Mending the hoop of the people", and have been spreading this in our own unique way to the community.
And so it's no surprise that we are teaming up for the first Forrest Yoga Immersion in years! This is a full practice (2.5hrs!) integrating breathwork, conscious movement followed by an extended meditation practice and reflection around the theme of...
