Big shoutout to our February member spotlight - Caleb 👏
Always showing up, always putting in the work, and somehow almost never missing a class. With that strict, fierce teacher face, he definitely looks like he means business 😤 but anyone who knows him knows he’s actually one of the nicest and friendliest people around. He is always great to train with, talk to, and a delight have in class. You’ll always catch him giving his best and inspiring everyone else to do the same.
💥What made you join Nova initially and what made you stay?
When Nova Bishan first opened in September 2024, it was just a stone’s throw away from where I was living then. Given the convenience, I decided to try the gym and classes out. My first impressions were that the gym was really well equipped and had really friendly trainers. I didn’t feel intimidated at all as a first-timer. Having trained here for more than a year, I’m happy to have made a bunch of good friends in the gym (both members and coaches!) and they are the main reason why I’m still here - the community that pushes each other hard during training and equally crazy outside of the gym.
💥What progress or achievement are you most proud of since training with us?
I’m happy with every slight improvement I see in my various lifts but I must say I’m proudest of the progress I’ve made with my wife in terms of our Hyrox Mixed Doubles training after all the Hyrox classes and run club sessions.
💥What would you say to someone who is thinking of starting their fitness journey?
Like a wise Jedi Master once said, “Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Once you have set your commitments, show up with intention and don’t worry about what others might think of you. Everyone was a beginner once!

January Member Spotlight: Bobby 🏆
Meet Bobby. He joined wanting to lose weight and get stronger, and his journey has inspired many in our community. 🔥

💥What was your biggest fear when you first started gym, and how did you push past it?
My biggest insecurity was feeling self-conscious and not knowing what to do. I had tried gyms before but was never consistent and would lose motivation.
What helped was having a goal and showing up consistently. Over time, things felt less intimidating. The Nova community also helped a lot — everyone is supportive, which built my confidence. Eventually I started enjoying training and even made gym friends, which made coming to the gym something I look forward to.
💥What is one habit outside the gym that made the biggest difference?
My diet was the biggest change. I only truly understood that you can’t out-train a bad diet when I started this journey — even though good food is hard to resist 😂
With help from coaches and friends (shoutout Jay), I started tracking macros and making better food choices. I also started running, which I used to hate. Joining Hyrox pushed me out of my comfort zone, and now I make sure to run at least once every weekend.
💥 What is the biggest thing you’ve gained that isn’t related to the scale?
Better habits and a stronger mindset.
I started gym just wanting to be healthier, especially after realising how unfit I was. Now, I’ve passed IPPT again, signed up for Hyrox, and registered for my first 2XU Half Marathon. These milestones showed me how much consistency compounds over time. Trust the process and keep progressing 💪🏻😎
