Knife defense: To be honest, i have yet to see an effective knife defense other than running away and shout for help. Videos I see in social media IMO are not realistic and could actually do more harm than good.
Imagine blocking short, fast stabs as well as slashes... now imagine it being done on your "weak" side (left or right side). Imagine the different knife grips and the possible angles. All these considerations, and we only have a split second decision on what to do. One misstep and we could bleed to death. Best way is to avoid ending up in this situation in the first place or run away.
*I won't comment on gun defense as it is a more complicated subject and I have never been in that situation.
