The last international tournament of 2025 for Wayfarers, Central Asia HEMA Cup in Almaty, Kazakhstan organised by !
On the borders with Europe, Kazakhstan was an exotic destination that had an extraordinary HEMA scene. The fighters in the local area were incredibly athletic and skilled, and it was a joy to have had the honour to fight them.
Although there was an initial hiccup in the scheduling, the event went very smoothly and we had a lot of fun. We had a great time with the lovely .jan , and the boys from ! A pleasure to have fought, assisted and bonded with you all!
We look forward to seeing you all again soon, and we’re extremely excited to our eventual return to Kazakhstan again!

A week straight after Einherjar Cup 2025, Wayfarers headed down to Pedang Merdeka 2025 in Jakarta, Indonesia!
There, we were able to reconnect with all our old (and new) friends from all over! It was an awesome event as we finally got to see the Asia-Pacific (APAC) scene connect together, marking an exciting beginning for the region.
The event itself was amazing and educational. The workshops shared many useful fundamental insights and applications to Longsword, while the tournament was a sight to behold! With vastly different fencing styles of each club clashing with one another, it was entertaining and fun to be a part of.
Pedang Merdeka is definitely shaping up to be one of the major tournaments in APAC if they keep their hard work and effort up! Looking forward to more for sure.
(Also, let it be known that .yj._ won the first annual APAC-HEMA hand-slapping game against )

Einherjar Cup 2025 was an amazing event for Wayfarers, especially since this was the largest team we’ve sent for an overseas tournament!
5 of us (and our lovely partners who supported us all the way through) travelled over to Hong Kong on the 9th and 10th of August to compete in the Saber and Longsword categories. It was a melting hotpot of HEMA clubs from all over Asia. A certainly eye opening experience and insight into the different club cultures.
Despite not being able to secure any medals (though we did get close with 4th on the overall placings in Longsword), we were able to make plenty of new friends and reconnect with old ones at the event. Another plus was that the Wayfarers team was able to bond further and strengthen our relationships as a whole. Most important of all, we were able to engage in and enjoy a high level of intense competitive HEMA that has given us a lot to learn and grow from.
Overall, you’ll definitely be seeing us at the next iteration of Einherjar Cup. Thanks for having us, Hong Kong!

On 28–29 June, Wayfarers headed to Taipei for Clash of Steel, hosted what a weekend it turned out to be.
It was truly a rich experience as we were able to meet and fence with fighters from all corners of Asia. We’re proud and grateful to share that Wayfarers took 1st place in Longsword 🥇!
We also reunited with familiar faces from Indonesia (.gwaithimegyr & ) and made new friends from other countries, especially those from South Korea, who supported us like we were one of their own.
A memorable tournament for sure. All the best until we meet again!

On 24–25 May 2025, Wayfarers travelled to Perth, Australia to compete at War in the West 2025, hosted by .
Our fencers competed in both Longsword and Saber categories. While the Longsword semi-final pools proved challenging, we are proud to announce that Wayfarers secured Silver in Saber🥈, earning our very first international medal!
We’re especially proud of our members, for some, this was their first-ever international competition. Regardless, they represented Wayfarers with incredible skill and determination.
The competition was well organised, running smoothly and on schedule throughout both days. We’re deeply thankful to the local fighters and organisers for their warm hospitality and support, which made the experience even more memorable. The competition was fierce, with a very high skill level that pushed all of us to grow.
Beyond the War in the West (pun intended 😉), new friendships and bonds were forged with international fighters, a reminder that HEMA is as much more about community than it is a competition.
Huge congratulations to everyone who represented Wayfarers with skill, grit, and sportsmanship. We can’t wait to return and continue raising our game!

Forged in sweat, steel, and the thrill of the fight.
At Wayfarers, we reimagine HEMA as sport, where the pursuit of swordsmanship is sharpened, discipline drives the edge, and tradition meets athletic precision. We move with intent, fight with pressure, and grow through challenges together. This is history, evolving with every clash.
