Event Report incoming 📝
A little late this week but this will get you in the spirit for this Saturday!
Thank you to parkrun tourist Will for sharing his experience on Event #437.
Read it here👇
As a tourist from Buckingham in the UK in Singapore, I couldn’t resist the chance to join in another Singapore parkrun after Bay East Garden parkrun, Bishan week before last and West Coast Park parkrun last week so East Coast Park parkrun was on the agenda this week for my last Singapore parkrun of my trip. I’ve done a fair few parkruns back home, so I was excited to see how this one compares to both back home but also the other ones I’ve done in Singapore during my time here. The course was lovely — a nice 5k route through East Coast park, with a mix of tarmac paths and a bit of greenery in an out and back course. The weather was a very humid which is a stark contrast from the uk weather and even after 27 days of being here still getting used to it and probably won’t ever get used to it.
The parkrun community here was incredibly welcoming. I met a few locals as well as tourists from America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Australia and fellow UK to name just a few. They were all so friendly and we exchanged our parkrun stories and how we ended up being here in Singapore .
All in all, my experience at East Coast Park parkrun was fantastic. If you’re visiting Singapore and want to get involved in a friendly, low-key event, I’d definitely recommend it. It’s a great way to meet locals, see the park and see the views, as well as enjoying a bit of early morning fitness while you're in the city! As well getting to run the closest parkrun to the equator in the world which is pretty cool.
Some Stats from East Coast Park parkrun #437 as well as since the start.
First male to finish in a time of 17:47 was Xianyi Wu First female to finish, just 9 places behind Xianyi was Isabella RUDD ROSSLER with a time of 20:45 The highest age grade percentage this week went to Carole-Anne Upton 80.69%
There have been 437 Events since it started . 12430 have finished a parkrun and they have combined to run a total of 35656 since the parkrun started because 770 volunteers have participated on a Saturday morning to allow that to happen. 5375 of them have recorded there PB here. The average finish time across those stats is 00:28:14 and that’s been from 1353 different groups in the running community
Milestones:
Michael Cook 100
Megan Drury 25
Thank you to all the other volunteers who allowed this event to go on in the special park.
