Exams, holidays, injuries and family commitments are all part of life. Sometimes she needs time away.

But returning to RG is not always as simple as picking up where she left off. Familiar skills may still feel natural. The strength, flexibility, conditioning and confidence she needs to perform them safely take time to rebuild.

If she does need a break, our goal is not to rush her back. Our goal is to help her return stronger, safer and ready to progress again. Tell us before the break starts, and we will plan it with you.

An Open Class is your chance to see what happens in a real class. You see how we teach, and you see her posture, movement, coordination, apparatus handling and foundations up close.

You also see how much practice each skill needs. Class time is only part of her training. She grows fastest when she practices at home too.

We welcome parents to watch, ask us questions and learn how to support her.

When class and home training work together, she has the right environment to challenge herself, build confidence and thrive in the final term of the year.

Why do some gymnasts shake off a mistake mid-routine while others spiral over it?

Often, it comes down to more than talent, it comes down to coaching culture.

In many cases, resilience under pressure isn’t something a gymnast is simply born with. It’s something coaching can either build or quietly break down over time.

That’s what a modern, gymnast-friendly coaching approach protects:

- A gymnast’s ability to make a mistake and move past it, because how a coach responds to errors shapes how she learns to respond to herself.

- Room to still enjoy the sport at a competitive level, so training feels like something she wants to be part of, not something she has to endure.

- Confidence built through support rather than fear, so pressure sharpens her skills instead of putting a strain on her mindset.

This is something we actively practise at BPA. Our coaches are trained in this approach, and we run dedicated events with parents so that everyone, coaches and parents alike, is building the same supportive environment around every gymnast.

High standards and a love for the sport can grow side by side.

We want to raise gymnasts who are prepared to meet challenges, learn from mistakes and continue developing with confidence.

Notice how she reacts to a small mistake at practice this week. That response often says more about her training environment than her next score.

Not every child needs another activity.

And not every family has room for one.

That’s something we’ve come to understand much better through the conversations we have with parents at trial.

The real question isn’t always, “Can we afford it?”

Sometimes it’s:
“Is this worth giving her an hour of our week?”

We think that depends on what she gets from it.

If she leaves stronger, more focused, more confident and a little more willing to challenge herself, perhaps that hour has earned its place.

And if it hasn’t? We’ll tell you that too.

Because the goal isn’t to fill her schedule.
It’s to find something that’s genuinely hers.

Comment TRIAL and we’ll send you the questions we walk families through before a trial class.

Struggling to hold your balance the moment you add hoop or ball into the mix? You're not alone, and it usually comes down to fundamentals, not talent.

Penché balance while handling an apparatus is one of the hardest combinations in competitive routines. These are the same penché drills we use to build that control before apparatus work is added in.

The drills:

1. Hoop-assisted penché: 3 sets x 20-30 second holds per leg
2. Split penché with support arm: 2-3 reps x 30-60 second holds per side
3. Bench-assisted oversplit extension with coach support: 2-3 reps x 30-60 second holds
4. Wall bar active penché: 3 sets x 10 reps, holding the top position for 5 seconds each

Save this for your next training session.

How do young rhythmic gymnasts handle the pressure of chasing national-level goals without losing their love for the sport?

Often, it comes down to more than just talent or hours spent in the gym.

In many cases, reaching a high level of performance requires an environment that protects a gymnast’s mental wellbeing just as much as it supports her technical development.

That’s what a safe, high-performance environment demands:

1. Coaches who are trained to recognise when pressure is helping an athlete grow and when it’s starting to take a toll, and who can adjust their approach accordingly.

2. Open communication between coaches, gymnasts and parents, so that challenges are recognised early rather than staying hidden until they become a bigger problem.

3. A culture where competing at the highest level and genuinely enjoying the sport are treated as equally important, never one being sacrificed for the other.

Excellence and wellbeing were never meant to be a trade-off.

We believe a gymnast performs at her best when she feels supported at every step, not simply pushed towards the next score.

So, take a moment this week to check in, both with your gymnast and her coach. Ask her how training really feels lately, and ask them how they’re balancing the development of her skills with protecting her wellbeing.

Smiles, confidence and proud moments on and off the floor. It was never just about the result, but about having fun, believing in themselves, and walking away feeling proud.

A mindset that continues to be nurtured and carried forward to this day.

How do young rhythmic gymnasts actually make the jump to the Singapore National Squad, like our former gymnast Mirabelle?

Often, it comes down to a path that goes far beyond regular club classes.

In many cases, reaching the national team isn't just about training more hours, it requires navigating a very specific, high-performance pipeline.

Athletes have to hit strict minimum score thresholds set by Singapore Gymnastics at major selection events, transition from local training into the Singapore Gymnastics Development Programme (SGDP), and eventually earn their spot at the National Training Centre (NTC).

That’s exactly what an elite competitive track demands:
1. A rock-solid foundation in the FIG Code of Points, making sure every routine is built mathematically for maximum ex*****on and difficulty scores.
2. World-class technical coaching that catches minor mistakes in flexibility and apparatus handling before they become hard habits to break.
3. An environment surrounded by other intensely driven athletes, which builds the mental resilience needed to compete under national-level pressure.

Getting onto the national squad takes years of grit, but it starts with a club environment that prepares them for what’s ahead.

We couldn't be prouder to see Mirabelle thriving with the National Squad at the NTC, proving just how far hard work and the right foundation can take you.

If your gymnast has big competitive goals and you're curious about how to start them on the national pathway, message us and we’ll walk you through it!
