RJI-Sponsored Challenge: The Weather Tried, But the Golf Went On

The weather may have been doing its best to discourage outdoor activities on Sunday, 9 August, but it certainly wasn’t enough to keep the golfers away from St Helena Golf Club for the Peter Francis Memorial Challenge, an 18-hole strokeplay competition generously sponsored by Richard James International (RJI).

When the final scores were counted, Ashton Benjamin emerged as the winner with an excellent net score of 68. Martin Buckley finished just one stroke behind on 69 to take second place, while Anthony Thomas completed the podium in third with a net 70.

Martin Buckley had an especially productive day, adding the Gents’ Longest Drive and Gents’ Nearest to the Pin prizes to his runner-up finish. Laura Buckley also enjoyed a memorable round, taking both the Ladies’ Longest Drive and Ladies’ Nearest to the Pin prizes.

There was no winner of the Two-Ball Pool.
