I regret to inform you that the EWOL - Way of Life team will not be participating in this year’s Barcolana. Unfortunately, there are several reasons behind this decision. The main reason is that, under the leadership of Gialuz, we haven’t felt as welcomed as in the past year when director Demartis take care aboute hospitality. Despite our history with the event, we received no outreach from Gialuz. It seems his focus is more on personal branding and political appearances, rather than on the actual spirit of bringing Maxi yachts and top teams to the regatta.
Personally, I’ve never considered Barcolana a true sporting event. For us, it’s been more about the experience and the joy of bringing Slovenian people out there on the sea in late October.
Additionally, our focus has shifted towards ocean sailing, making it difficult to participate in localized regattas like Barcolana with a yacht prepared for long-distance challenges. This year, there will be no rum Happy Wife, no Slovenian music, and sadly, no strong Maxi representing Slovenia.

INEOS Britannia has the quality and experience that will shine through, especially when the pressure builds. Sir Ben Ainslie is known for delivering his best under stress, and that will be crucial in the final stages. Luna Rossa has a great boat, but I think their leadership lacks the same caliber. Bruni is a good sailor, but not winner. A team-up with Ruggero Tita and James Spithill would make them far more competitive, but fortunately for Ineos, that’s not the reality right now. Ineos Britannia remains the favorite with their adaptability and experience in the toughest situations. In the end, Ainslie’s cool-headed decision-making under pressure will tip the scales in Ineos's favor.
Go Ineos.

In the EWOL project, whose ambassador is the best Slovenian maxi yacht Way of Life, we presented the goals of this year's sailing season in the beautiful surroundings of the Gredič Hotel in the Goriška brda region. After a lot of bad luck before last year's season pinnacle and the performance at the always demanding Mediterranean navigational classic Rolex Middle Sea Race, when Way of Life was hit by another yacht just before leaving for Malta, we hope for more sporting luck this year.
We are planning an ambitious season, the highlight of which in terms of competition may be the very first regatta on June 12 – . It is a 241-nautical-mile offshore race, starting in Saint Tropez and finishing in Genoa, during which the yachts circle the island called Giraglia, north of Corsica, after which the regatta takes its name. In June, this will be the 71st edition of this popular race, which is usually attended by many of the best maxi yachts in the world. Under the patronage of the French and Italian sailing federations, it is organized by the Yacht Club Italiano and the Societe Nautique de Saint-Tropez.
"If we look at the Giraglia, it is definitely a very demanding logistical and competitive challenge, which requires both the top preparation of the yacht and the team itself. Therefore, we will devote the next 3 months to the optimization of the yacht as well as the crew. The core of the team, consisting of excellent sailors from Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Croatia and the Czech Republic, remains the same, but we may also strengthen the crew with additional experienced European sailors," said Gašper Vinčec, who, along with his business partner Robert Šterpin, is considered the driving force behind the EWOL project.
The list of regattas that the EWOL Sailing Team will take part in later in the season will be announced in the coming month.

After being damaged by another yacht a few moments before the start of Venice Hospitality Challenge, we managed to stay in the race until the end and won 2nd place. According to Gasper Vincec, the upcoming Rolex Middle Sea Race is most probably lost, but the final decision will be accepted in the next hours 😔. All in all, many thanks to The Gritti Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Venice for the amazing hospitality during our stay in Venice 🤝.
