Erasmus+ Sport project focused on making judo accessible to blind and visually impaired athletes. Co-financed by the EU

Did you know that Braille was invented by a teenager?
Louis Braille created the system in the 1824 when he was just 15 years old. Inspired by a military “night writing” code used by soldiers to read messages in the dark, he transformed it into a simple and brilliant system that could be read with fingertips instead of eyes.

Blind or VI? Welcome! 🤍
Judo is a Paralympic sport with its own discipline: Blind Judo.

Same values. Same power. Same respect on the tatami. 🥋

V naslednjih dveh letih se bomo v novem Erasmus+ projektu razvojno posvečali dostopnosti juda slepim in slabovidnim ter nadgradili praktično znanje, ki smo ga pridobili z našim slepim fantkom Alexisom 💙.

V projektu JudoBraille bomo:

With over 30 million people in Europe facing vision impairments, many struggle to participate in sports due to a lack of adapted resources and trained coaches. JudoBraille is an innovative project that promotes accessibility and inclusion by breaking down barriers for blind and visually ımpared (VI) indıviduals ın judo. As both an Olympic and Paralympic sport, judo fosters contidence, spatial awareness, breakfall techniques, and social integration for VI athletes. However, existing programmes rarely provide educational materials (Judo belt exam guides) or structured support tailored to their needs. To bridge these gaps, the JudoBraille project brings together judo experts, coaches, reterees, Vl education experts, and other education protessionals in this initiative, with the support of National Paralympic Committees and Judo Federations. They aim to create judo braille belt exam guides and other accessible formats for V1 judokas in multiple languages, and to train judo coaches in inclusive teaching methods. This project initiative involves partners from Croatia, Lithuania, Slovenia, and Spain, aiming to make a long-term impact on inclusive sports education.
