*NSA SIGNS MOU WITH AYV TO DEVELOP SPORTS IN THE COUNTRY*
*NSA MEDIA*
The National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Africa Young Voices (AYV) Media Empire on Friday 17th July 2020 signed a Memorandum of Understanding for an initial 12 month period, starting the date of the signing.
Moderating the signing ceremony at the Empire's Conference Room, Madam Stella Bangura described the occasion as symbolic, noting that this is the first time in the history of Sierra Leone a media institution was signing an MOU with a government agency responsible for sports development in the country.
She described sports as a game of unifier, saying it resonates with the programmes of the AYV, as both institutions will now work together to bring Sierra Leoneans together in spite of their political and individual differences.
"This MOU will bring huge media coverage to all sports and this will sell Sierra Leone sports globally", Stella added.
Steven Keifala is the Director, Participation and Sustainable Sports and Head of Programmes at the NSA, he thanked the AYV Boss and his team for promoting young people in the country. He said the MOU between the NSA and the Empire will bring more opportunities to the youth and young people of this country describing sports activity mostly done by youth and young people.
Director Keifala used the ceremony to describe the role of the NSA in regulating sports in the country.
In his statement, Executive Director of the Authority, Dr. Kenneth Brima thanked the Government of President Bio for making sure that the NSA becomes operational in the country. He said the NSA serves an opportunity for Sierra Leoneans to work together in sports development in the country.
"Although the country is fighting COVID-19, and the Government is paying serious attention to that battle, the GoSL through the Ministry of Finance was able to approve over Two Billion Leones for the Authority," Dr. Brima said.
The NSA boss thanked the CEO and staff of AYV Empire for their willingness to work with the NSA in the interest of Sierra Leoneans. Dr. Brima went on to note that other countries in African are far ahead of Sierra Leone in terms of sports, stressing this is due to the presence of their Sports Authority. He was however optimistic that Sierra Leone will soon match up with them especially with the media support from AYV, unarguably one of the best media institutions in Africa.
"NSA will be engaging other media institutions for similar partnership", Dr. Brima concluded.
CEO of AYV Media Empire Ambassador Anthony Jr. Navo commended Dr. Brima and the NSA for their commitment and resilience, as well as the Government of Sierra Leone for the establishment of the Authority.
"In the past, media institutions in Sierra Leone have not been quite respected by past governments, but their is a change now", the Vibrant CEO noted.
The AYV boss stressed that the MOU between the two institutions will be fully honored and each point in the document will be stoutly implemented.
"AYV have now secured over half a million dollar modern equipment purely for sports, with twenty (20) Outside Broadcasting (OB) Satellite to cover all sporting activities in the country"
Ambassador Navo urged the NSA to be steadfast and remain resilient because bringing change is not always easy, but AYV will always stand by the NSA, in ensuring that sport is developed in the country.
"AYV is ready to support the Government and the people of Sierra Leone in order for the country to become the Singapore of Africa", he ended.
