It was a fierce competition from the beginning and Grassfield community proved to be the strongest and emerged as the champions of the Western Area Rural District Football Association and Western Area Rural District Council Sport Committee 120,000 Leone Inter Community Football Competition.

The journey to the finals was not an easy one for Grassfield community. The competition started with 32 communities from the Western Area Rural District coming together to showcase their football skills and represent their communities. With the determination and hard work of the boys from the Benguma axis, they were able to secure the top spot and make their community proud.

Their journey to the finals was marked by impressive wins and a strong display of teamwork. They started off with a bang, scoring the opener and securing three points in their first match against Tombo community.From then on, they remained unbeaten throughout the competition, solidifying their position as the team to beat.

On the other hand, the runner up of the competition, Campbell town community, also showed an impressive performance throughout the tournament. They were known as the home of superstars, with a team filled with big names and talented players. However, in the grand final, they were defeated by a single goal in the first half, unable to break through the strong defense of Grassfield community.

Apart from the winning team, individual players were also recognized for their outstanding performances. Dilvine Kamara of Grassfield community was awarded the best player of the tournament, and the first goal scorer while the title of best coach went to Charles Chandoze Vandy, head coach of Grassfield community. Issa Kamara of Rokupa community was the highest goal scorer, and Santigie Sesay of Grassfield community received the award for best goalkeeper. Not only players, but even the best commentator award goes to John Champion and best supporter award goes to Mohamed Jalloh Aka Turn Turn were also given recognition for their contributions to the tournament.

The grand final, held on Sunday 22nd March 2026, at the Bassatown playing field was a thrilling event filled with emotions, excitement, and drama. The whole community came together to support their team, making it a memorable day for everyone. The Western Area Rural District Football Association and Western Area Rural District Council Sport Committee can take pride in organizing a successful and competitive inter community football competition that brought the community together and showcased the talent and passion for the sport in the district.

Congratulations to Grassfield community for their well-deserved win and for making their community proud. The championship trophy and prize money of 120,000 Leone are a testament to their hard work and dedication. We look forward to seeing them defend their title in the next edition of the competition. As for the other communities, let this be a motivation to come back stronger and give Grassfield community a tough challenge in the future. This competition has proven the power of unity and teamwork, and we can't wait to see what the next edition has in store for us.

Kasho J. Holland Cole is a leading figure in Sierra Leonean football, with decades of experience in administration, coaching, and football development. As Chairman of the Western Area Rural District, he has been instrumental in promoting grassroots sports and nurturing young talent.

As CEO of Waterloo FC, he has guided the club to prominence, earning respect for his strategic vision and leadership. His tenure as Secretary of the Western Area Football Association further solidified his reputation as a dedicated administrator committed to the growth of football in the region.

With certifications from both FIFA and CAF, Kasho is recognized internationally for his knowledge of match operations and governance, making him a respected authority in African football. His presence as the guest of honor and official kickoff performer adds prestige to todayโ€™s WARDFA 120 Million Inter-Community Final.

*WARDC SPORT COMMITTEE in collaboration with WARDFA Le 120,000 INTERCOMMUNITY LEAGUE*

*Road to the final and key points to note:*

* Grassfield Community played the opening ceremony, and set to play the final
* Grassfield qualified from the group stage with 7 points as group leader in group A.
* Campbell Town qualified with 6 points as runners up in group G. They had equal points with Rokel community but separated by goal difference

*Road to the final*
1. *Grassfield Group stage*
- Grassfield, in group A, defeated Tombo stars in the opening ceremony by a goal. They ended in a 1:1 draw with Rogbere Academy in their second match, and also defeated the Bolima community by a goal to nil.
- In the round of 16, Grassfield defeated Allentown by 1 goal
- In the quarter final stage, Grassfield defeated Devil hole by 1goal to nil,
- In a controversial Semi finals, Grassfield defeated Regent Community in post match penalties. Now waiting for the battle for the trophy on the grand finals.
2. *Campbell Town group stage*

- Campbell Town defeated the Newton community by a goal in their first group G match. They further defeated McDonald community by a goal to nill, and, on their final group match, they were humiliated by the Rokel community with a 5:0 defeat, which automatically placed Rokel community on top of their group table over Campbell Town
- In the round of 16, they defeated the Kossoh Town community by 2 goals.
- In the quarter finals, the defeated the Jui community by 2 goals, as well., and
- In the semi final, Campbell Town defeated the Fannah community in post match penalties after ending the 90 minutes with draw. They are now setting to play final for the giant trophy.

The Western Area Rural District Football Association (WARDFA), in collaboration with the Western Area Rural District Council Sports Committee, is set to host the highly anticipated Le120,000 (one hundred and twenty million leones old notes) Inter-Community Football Competition Grand Final on Sunday, 22nd March 2026 at 3:30 p.m. The grand final match will take place at the Bassatown Playing Field, with an entrance fee of only Le30.

This yearโ€™s competition has seen 32 communities across the Western Area Rural District come together to compete in what promises to be a never-to-be-forgotten event. With young players from different backgrounds and diverse skill sets, these communities have worked tirelessly to represent their people with pride and passion. The WARDFA Inter-Community Football Competition has been filled with drama, suspense, and infectious energy that has captivated fans and management from all participating communities.

The grand final match will feature two of the biggest communities -Grassfield Community and Campbell Town Community. Both teams have shown impressive skills throughout the competition, with Grassfield defeating Regent Community in a penalty shootout 5โ€“3, and Campbell Town advancing by beating Fannah Community with a score of two goals to zero in the semi-finals.

The highly anticipated match between these two communities is expected to be an intense battle for the championship title.
