*Randy George nets 11 of the season to hand Wilberforce Strikers vital win*
Wilberforce Strikers secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Bullom Stars on Wednesday, April 29th, at the Approved School Field, deepening the Pilot Boys’ woes in Matchweek 24 of the Leone Rock Premier League.
The fixture pitted two sides searching for a turnaround. Wilberforce Strikers came in off a 0-0 draw with East End Lions, while Bullom Stars were reeling from a 2-1 loss to Ports Authority. For Bullom, the pressure was immense — and the result only compounded it.
The opening half showed promise, with both teams testing each other’s backlines but lacking a cutting edge in the final third. It ended 0-0, setting up a tense second half.
The deadlock finally broke in the 65th minute. Lansana Kamara slid a clever pass to Osman Kargbo, who finished calmly to give Wilberforce a 1-0 lead. Bullom Stars threw men forward and found a lifeline in the 85th minute. Substitute Mohamed Manga Sesay pounced to level the score at 1-1, briefly igniting hope of ending their winless run.
That hope was short-lived. Just four minutes later, Randy M. George struck decisively in the 89th minute to restore Wilberforce’s lead. The goal — his 11th of the campaign and joint league top scorer — sealed all three points for the hosts.
The defeat extends Bullom Stars’ torrid run to eight games without a win, including seven straight defeats. They remain 18th with 23 points, firmly in the relegation fight.
Wilberforce Strikers climb to 10th on 31 points from 25 matches, easing their own fears and building momentum.
Wilberforce Strikers will face Bhantal FC on Saturday, May 9th at the SLFA Academy. Bullom Stars return home to host Luawa FC on Wednesday, May 6th at the Approved School Field, where they’ll be desperate to stop the slide.

*Ibrahim Keita’s stoppage-time strike earns Kamboi Eagles 1-0 win over Ports Authority*
Kamboi Eagles snatched a dramatic 1-0 victory over Ports Authority on Wednesday, April 29th, in a tense Matchweek 24 clash at the Kenema Town Field, with substitute Ibrahim Keita delivering the decisive blow deep into stoppage time.
The match was a tense affair defined by discipline and organization from both sides. Clear-cut chances were at a premium in the first half, though Ports Authority came closest when Paypay G. Mansaray’s powerful header forced a brilliant save from Kamboi Eagles goalkeeper Abu Bakarr Bangura.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams compact and cautious. Kamboi Eagles nearly broke the deadlock in the 80th minute when Abdulai Sillah’s header crashed against the post.
The Eagle’s head coach Ishmael Kallon then made a decisive double change in the 82nd minute, introducing winger Joseph Cole and striker Ibrahim Keita — substitutions that would ultimately turn the game.
Deep into stoppage time, Cole burst through the Ports defense with a surging run before unselfishly squaring for Keita, who tapped into an empty net in the 92nd minute to spark wild celebrations in Kenema.
Keita’s match-winning impact earned him the Man of the Match award, while the result hands Kamboi Eagles back-to-back victories following last week’s away triumph over Luawa FC. The three points lift them to 31 points from 25 matches, providing a major boost under newly appointed head coach Ishmael Kallon as they look to climb the Leone Rock Premier League table.

*Luawa FC edge Mighty Blackpool 1-0 to climb out of relegation zone*
Luawa FC gave their survival hopes a massive boost on Wednesday April 29, grinding out a 1-0 win over Mighty Blackpool FC in a tense Leone Rock Premier League encounter at the SLFA Academy Field. With relegation looming, Luawa FC entered the match desperate for points. Head coach Hassan Kamara had demanded a high-pressing, aggressive approach, and his side responded despite early adversity.
The Cacao Boys suffered a blow in the 24th minute when the club’s top striker Mohamed Kargbo was forced off injured. But substitute Melvin Koroma stepped up immediately, using his pace and delivery to inject life into Luawa’s attack.
The first half ended goalless despite chances at both ends. Mighty Blackpool looked organized, but Luawa’s urgency was clear as they hunted a breakthrough to ease their relegation fears.
Luawa’s persistence paid off in the second half. After winning a corner through relentless pressing, Musa Suma whipped in an accurate delivery and Koroma rose highest to head home the decisive goal.
It proved enough to seal all three points, sparking celebrations as Luawa FC climbed out of the drop zone. The result marks a turning point for Luawa FC, who have struggled near the bottom all season. For the “Tis Tas Boys” Mighty Blackpool, it’s a missed opportunity to go higher on the log.
Coach Hassan Kamara will hope this win gives his side the momentum needed to secure top-flight status as the season enters its decisive phase.

Happy Birthday Mr. Abdul Karim Bangura (𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐑 𝐀𝐊𝐁).
Wishing a happy birthday to a visionary and results-driven leader whose name is synonymous with success in Sierra Leone club football.
Manager AKB remains the only active team manager to have won every major top-flight domestic trophy in the last four seasons, with five major titles to his name.
Under his leadership, Bo Rangers FC completed an unprecedented domestic treble during the 2023/24 season, clinching the FA Community Shield, the Leone Rock Premier League, and the FA Cup, the first top-flight club to achieve this remarkable feat in a single season.
Since his appointment in 2021, the club has dominated the league, winning three consecutive titles, matching the historic East End Lions feat (1992–1994), when the competition was known as the National Division Championship.
He also doubles as the Team Manager of the country’s senior men’s national team, Leone Stars.
Today, we raise a toast to a transformative figure whose legacy continues to shape the future of Sierra Leone club football.
Happy Birthday, AKB, a true champion and symbol of winning leadership. 🎂❤️

*Title chasers Star Sport Academy drop points in goalless draw with Bhantal*
Star Sport Academy missed the chance to close the gap at the top on Monday April 27, after being held to a 0-0 draw by a resolute Bhantal FC guided by Coach Edward Junior Konneh at the SLFA Academy.
Second-placed Star Sport Academy, sitting on 46 points, went into the fixture as favorites against sixth-placed Bhantal FC with 37 points. But it was the visitors who frustrated the hosts with a disciplined defensive display.
The host, headed Coach Amidu Karim dominated possession and pushed for a winner, particularly in the second half, creating several clear-cut chances. Yet they found Bhantal FC goalkeeper Alhaji Sesay in inspired form. The Leone Stars shot-stopper produced a string of crucial saves to keep his side level and earn a vital point on the road.
While Sesay stood tall between the posts, defender Yeami Dunia was equally influential. His timely interceptions and composed defending repeatedly shut down Star Sport Academy attacking threats. Dunia’s commanding performance earned him the Man of the Match award.
Both managers turned to their benches in search of a breakthrough, but the substitutions failed to change the outcome as the defenses held firm.
The draw keeps Star Sport Academy second in the Leone Rock Premier League standings, though they will view it as two points dropped in the title race. Bhantal FC will be the happier of the two, taking a hard-earned point to aid their push for a top-four finish.
Either side will look to build on their solid defensive foundations as the season heads into its final stretch.
