....and yes, the challenges are many. Together, we all feel the pain. Yet, my patriotism and belief in SALONE makes me an optimist. Of course, I am not blind, nor am I insensitive to the many ills of our nation since independence.

However, I have always celebrated you on this day, April 27th. I choose to celebrate you, mama SALONE, not because everything is rosy or because I'm living La Vida Loca. I choose to celebrate you, because there's no place like home.

I have been fortunate enough to travel all over the world, but I always look forward to coming home.

Even if I had a foreign passport or a resident permit in the most developed country, I could never feel 100% like I do here in Sierra Leone. So, with all hands on deck, I believe we can make our beloved country all we want to leave in

Over the years, the social fabric of Sierra Leone has been pulled in many different directions. Yet, we always rise to the occasion and pass every test. From being called the Athens of Africa, our struggles with:

1. Rampant corruption
2. Political violence
3. Coup d'états
2. Poverty
3. A brutal civil war
4. Ebola
5. Mud-slide
6. Covid 19, etc.

Have proved that we are a very resilient people. And that is part of our greatness. We are a God-fearing and God-loving people. Our religious tolerance makes us the envy of others

We are a blessed people. We are a blessed nation, and together, we will rise again.
