The occasion marked the grand launch of the regional U12 and U14 football championship, captivating the audience in the heart of Karene District, Kamakwie.

The opening ceremony witnessed a thrilling clash between two powerhouses of Karene District Youth Football in the U12 category, with Barmin FC facing off against Pendoi Academy. However, the anticipated showdown will be etched in history as it is set for a replay due to unforeseen technical and regulatory breaches. Undeterred, the U14 category took center stage, showcasing Pendoi Academy's triumph over Barmin FC with a decisive 1-0 victory.

Before the adrenaline-pumping kick-off, Chairman Abdul Kandeh Turay extended a gracious welcome to the 15-man delegation from the Northwest Region, led by the dynamic Chairman of the region, Mr. Abdul Osman Turay. It is with heavy hearts that we sympathize with the Bombali District Football Association (BDFA), the North/East Regional Football Association, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) relatives to the victims and the entire football family in the region for the loss of lives with other fatal casualties of 24 footballers on a return trip from Batkanu.
The Chairman and the entire *KarDFA* executive wish to let this be known that we are in this sad and sorrowful moment together. We pray for the lost souls and wish a speedy recovery to the seriously injured.
And to the family and other relatives, let us all take heart, wipe our tears and accept this to be the will of the almighty.
