The Gbonkolenke side, meanwhile, arrive from Yele following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Smart Angels. Despite Central Queens' status as one of the region's oldest and most established female clubs, they were unable to assert themselves on their home ground. The Gbonkolenke ladies struggled to establish control against a disciplined Smart side from Bombali district. This victory represents a notable assurance for the visitors who are competing in their very first season in the regional top flight.

Their positive start yielded fruit in the 32nd minute, when Adama M. Koroma capitalized on an scrambled play to score the match’s first goal. Eight minutes later in the 40th minute, Messie Turay doubled the advantage of providing her side with a comfortable lead and a psychological edge for the remainder of the match.

This encounter, part of the newly reinvigorated NERFA Regional Female Division One League, was observed by Abdul Pascal Gbla, the Acting Regional Chairman of NERFA. Known as a vision-oriented leader, Chairman Pascal's presence and dedication to ensuring the league's relevance and success are viewed as significant motivators for the young ladies reinforcing the commitment he demonstrated during the league's opening ceremony.

Central Queens are set to host Smart Angels at the Yele Town Field in a much anticipated encounter. While this fixture marks the first competitive meeting between the two clubs, both sides enter the pitch with distinct pedigrees and a shared objective.

The hosts are no strangers to the NERFA regional competition. Representing Gbonkolenke, the Queens have consistently demonstrated a disciplined approach to the game. Their primary objective this season remains a historic breakthrough to the national tier a goal that fuels their high-intensity style of play and organizational resilience.

Despite their lack of formal divisional experience, the visitors have utilized an extensive pre-season schedule of friendly matches to sharpen their tactical cohesion. Suba United thrash Tonkolili Queens 4–1 in NERFA female Division one league opener

Suba United delivered a commanding performance to open the 2026 North-East Region Football Association (NERFA) Female Division One League, defeating Tonkolili Queens 4–1 at the Magburaka playing field.

The visitors from Makeni established early dominance effectively neutralizing the home side with clinical finishing and tactical ex*****on. The scoring opened in the 12th minute through Ferreh Kamara, followed shortly by a 22nd-minute strike from Mariama Kenneh.
The standout performer of the afternoon, Miracle F. Thoronka, extended the lead with a brace finding the net in the 45th and 85th minutes. The host managed a lone consolation goal in the 70th minute when Aminata Sankoh converted a penalty but it proved insufficient to mount a comeback.

The North-East Region Football Association (NERFA) has officially released the fixtures for the 2026 Regional Division One Female League, confirming that the tournament’s opening ceremony will take place on Friday, 22 May 2026 at the Magburaka Town Field.

The inaugural match features a Group A encounter between the host, Tonkolili Queens and Suba United. This fixture marks the first competitive meeting between the two sides. Entering their first-ever regional sanctioned competitive match, the Magburaka ladies carry the weight of local expectation. Their extensive pre-season preparations suggest a side ready to challenge the established order.
However, as one of the region's most decorated and successful female club, Suba United enters their second Division One campaign. Recently restructured and organized, they are viewed as serious contenders for a spot in the upcoming National Women’s Premier League Play-offs.

While both teams are eager to assert early dominance the path to qualification remains formidable. Analysts suggest that the tactical discipline of the newly structured Makeni-based Suba pitted against the home-field advantage and momentum of Tonkolili Queens, makes this opening fixture difficult to call.
