🇳🇱 Netherlands Pushes EU to Suspend Aid to Sierra Leone Over Fugitive Drug Lord Bolle Jos
The Dutch government is calling on the European Union to increase pressure on Sierra Leone after authorities failed to arrest and extradite convicted Dutch drug trafficker Jos Leijdekkers, widely known as "Bolle Jos."
Dutch Justice and Security Minister David van Weel says the Netherlands will seek support from other EU member states to halt development aid to Sierra Leone until stronger action is taken.
The EU has allocated €325 million in subsidies to Sierra Leone between 2021 and 2027, in addition to funding through regional and international programs.
The move signals growing diplomatic tensions as Dutch authorities continue efforts to bring one of Europe's most wanted criminals to justice.
What do you think? Should development aid be used as leverage in such cases?

Former Nigerian Power Minister Arrested After 75-Year Corruption Sentence
🇳🇬 Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency, the EFCC, has arrested former Power Minister Saleh Mamman just one week after he was sentenced in absentia to 75 years in prison over the diversion of funds meant for hydroelectric power projects.
Authorities say Mamman went into hiding for weeks before being captured in Kaduna.
Prosecutors revealed that more than 22 billion naira ($14 million) was allegedly siphoned through proxy companies in what the court described as a “gross abuse of public trust.”
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said the agency remains committed to ensuring Mamman serves his sentence.
The former minister, who served under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021, is also facing another fraud trial involving an additional 31 billion naira.
The case has sparked fresh debate about corruption, accountability, and public trust in Nigeria’s power sector

Authorities say Wilhelmus played a major role in moving large co***ne shipments across international borders while helping launder millions through complex financial operations.
While one brother is now behind bars, the continued mystery surrounding Bolle Jos and his alleged presence in Sierra Leone keeps global attention fixed on the country’s links to international organised crime networks.
