Sterk signaal voor vrouwelijk leiderschap en internationale positionering van Pencak Silat

[Internationaal, januari 2026] – De Wereldbond voor Pencak Silat (IPSF-PERSILAT), heeft per januari 2026 mevrouw Florence .H. Wangsabesari – Jamin benoemd tot Voorzitter Promotie & Marketing binnen het Hoofdbestuur.
Met deze benoeming onderstreept IPSF-PERSILAT haar ambitie om de wereldwijde zichtbaarheid en professionele positionering van Pencak Silat verder te versterken.

Mevrouw Florence.H.Wangsabesari – Jamin is momenteel Voorzitter van de Surinaamse Pencak Silat Associatie (SPSA)en tevens Vicevoorzitter van de Pencak Silat Federation of the Americas (PSFA).
Haar aanstelling binnen het wereldbestuur verbindt nationale, continentale en mondiale bestuursniveaus en versterkt de internationale samenhang binnen de organisatie.

Met de benoeming van een vrouw in deze sleutelpositie geeft IPSF-PERSILAT een duidelijk en krachtig signaal af ten aanzien van modern, inclusief en toekomstgericht leiderschap binnen de internationale sportwereld. Deze stap benadrukt het belang dat de wereldbond hecht aan diversiteit en brede vertegenwoordiging binnen haar bestuursstructuren.

In haar functie als Voorzitter Promotie & Marketing is mevrouw Florence.H.Wangsabesari – Jamin verantwoordelijk voor de ontwikkeling en uitvoering van de internationale promotie- en marketingstrategie van Pencak Silat als sport en als immaterieel cultureel erfgoed.
De focus ligt op wereldwijde zichtbaarheid, strategische communicatie, professionele branding en internationale samenwerking.

De benoeming vindt plaats in een periode waarin Pencak Silat zich verder ontwikkelt op het internationale sporttoneel en waarin de positionering richting het internationaal olympisch speelveld steeds relevanter wordt.
In dat kader kan de aanstelling van mevrouw Florence. H.Wangsabesari – Jamin een belangrijke bijdrage leveren aan de versterking van de internationale profilering en herkenbaarheid van Pencak Silat.

Deze internationale koers wordt ondersteund door nauwe samenwerking met vertegenwoordigers uit onder meer India, Indonesië en Oezbekistan, landen die een essentiële rol spelen in de verdere ontwikkeling en wereldwijde verankering van Pencak Silat.

Met deze benoeming bevestigt IPSF-PERSILAT haar inzet om Pencak Silat duurzaam te positioneren als een wereldwijd erkende, inclusieve en professioneel georganiseerde sport.

We were honored to witness the historic inauguration of the Pencak Silat Federation for the Middle East and North Africa region on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The prestigious ceremony, held under the gracious patronage of the Consul General of Indonesia in Jeddah, Member of the Advisory Board of the Middle East and North Africa Pencak Silat Federation at his residence, was a momentous occasion marked by a distinguished diplomatic and athletic presence. The event featured welcoming speeches, captivating live demonstrations of Pencak Silat, and the symbolic handover of the federation's flag and official appointment letter for H. E. Mr. Osama Kokandy as the President of the Middle East and North Africa Pencak Silat Federation by the Secretary-General of the International Pencak Silat Federation, Dr. Teddy Suratmadji, on behalf of His Excellency President Prabowo Subianto, President of the International Pencak Silat Federation and President of the Republic of Indonesia.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all the esteemed diplomatic and sports figures who graced us with their presence. This launch paves the way for a brighter future for Pencak Silat across more than 20 countries in the region, fostering closer cooperation, organizing tournaments, and developing talent.

On July 20, 2025, Indonesian Ambassador H.E. Agus Priono visited the Surinaamse Pencak Silat Associatie (SPSA) office in Richelieu, Commewijne. On that occasion, he got to know the members of the association and their Pencak Silat schools. * Remarks by Mr. Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of Youth and Sports, who emphasized Pencak Silat's role as a cultural identity and its progress towards Olympic recognition [01:10:10].
* Cultural Performances and Demonstrations:
* The event featured an opening entertainment and Pencak Silat attractions by warriors and martial artists from 10 historical schools that are members of IPSI [55:55].
* An indoor ceremony included an exhibition by 100 martial artists representing IPSI member schools [56:05].
* A performance by the PBSI Pencak Silat Team showcased the art's rich movements, traditions, and warrior spirit [01:24:23].
* The military Pencak Silat team also performed a yell, demonstrating their collaborative strength and energy [01:42:53].
* Commemorative Activities:
* Attendees sang the Indonesian national anthem, "Indonesia Raya," and the IPSI march [45:30].
