RUMBEK EAST COUNTY MANAGEMENT TEAM – JUBA, OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION.

Good afternoon to the entire community of Rumbek East County.

We, the Management Team of Rumbek East County in Juba, would like to raise our concern and strongly condemn the unprocedural decision taken by the Rumbek East County Management based in Rumbek regarding the organization of a peace tournament in Juba without consultation or coordination with the officially recognized management in Juba.

On 10th May 2026, we came across a poster circulated by the Rumbek-based management announcing a meeting concerning the planned tournament in Juba. Upon seeing this, our management immediately reached out to them to express our concerns and condemn the manner in which the process was being handled, but unfortunately, no proper response or engagement was made.

We would like to make it clear that the Rumbek East County Management in Rumbek has no mandate or authority to organize sports activities in Juba without involving the management that has been entrusted by the community to oversee and coordinate all sports-related activities within Juba. In the same spirit, the Rumbek East community in Juba cannot organize activities in Rumbek without engaging the local management there. Mutual respect, coordination, and consultation must always be upheld.

Earlier this year, in February, the Management Team of Rumbek East in Juba held a meeting to discuss the possibility of organizing a county peace tournament in Juba. During that meeting, it was agreed that funds would first be mobilized in order to call for a general assembly where the community would be officially informed about the idea and a legitimate organizing committee would be elected transparently to oversee the tournament.

It is therefore disappointing to witness individuals attempting to bypass the established structures and procedures that are meant to promote unity, accountability, and cooperation among our people. Such actions risk creating confusion, division, and misunderstanding within the community instead of fostering peace and unity, which the tournament is supposed to represent.

We therefore call upon the organizers in Rumbek to halt any unilateral plans concerning activities in Juba until proper consultations are conducted with the management on the ground in Juba. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that genuinely promote peace, youth engagement, unity, and development, but such initiatives must follow the right channels and respect existing leadership structures.

We urge all sons and daughters of Rumbek East County to remain calm, united, and committed to dialogue and mutual understanding as we seek an amicable way forward for the benefit of our community.

The Rumbek East football community and the entire States and South Sudan mourn the loss of our dedicated pioneer and leader, Ruai Aliap, known as “Malim Truth,” from our football team. Truth Man was outgoing, friendly, and a leader whose qualities helped us win the first Lake State tournament. Ruai left a void that cannot be filled. May his soul rest in peace. 🕊️
