Talking points from Today's Match
South Sudan Vs D.R Congo
1. Joseph Malish (Magong)
2nd half impact.
Following his introduction with Habibu at the start of 2nd half, his runs and long passes, which eventually resulted into the only goal for Bright Stars, restored hope and excitement among fans following a disastrous halftime result. His partnership with Reech Chan seemed to be the best solution for South Sudan midfield, though he faces a stiff competition for minutes from talented Mario Taban and experienced William Gama, this is where the coach must be facing lots of selection headache.
2. Shaky defense of Pal, Ater and Benjamin Laku.
Today's goals were definitely from a poor defense set up. Pal and Ater found themselves miles apart in most cases, giving Congolese forwards freedom to make runs and face the keeper one on one. The build up and confidence level in defense is a big problem despite the fact that we have experienced defenders. Lots of work is needed in this area if SSD is to pick points against anyteam.
3. Tito Lucjiir lack of playing time.
Following his break through last year, the young electrifying winger has become an unused substitute in most games. The competition up front is too high, but with his left foot, he should be the favourite on the right flank.
4. Lack of connection upfront. Between Chol Pap, Toto Sebit and Mario Taban. All of them have that pace and speed which is something very good, but they look lost whenever they have the ball, like they can't see themselves. That passing and movement is not there. With Mario and Gama in the midfield, we expected a lot of chances and goals but that was not there. It's hard for the midfielders to fine them, Chol Pap had many opportunities to beat the defenders of Congo but he could not make it, simply because there was no one near to play with him. They would have done something if they had that connection.
