FSFA Technical Director Bilal Felix Komoyangi Makes History as South Sudan Earns First FIFA Coach Educator
JUBA, South Sudan — Future Stars Football Academy (FSFA) is celebrating a landmark achievement after its Technical Director, Bilal Felix Komoyangi Avuruako, became one of the first two South Sudanese coaches to receive the FIFA Coach Educators Diploma.
Komoyangi and fellow South Sudanese coach Dr. James Peter Lado received their certificates on 21 September 2026, completing a coaching education journey that began in 2023.
Their pathway combined online learning, practical on-field sessions and international exposure, including training activities in Kenya for Komoyangi.
For FSFA, Komoyangi's achievement represents more than an individual coaching milestone. As the academy's Technical Director, the qualification adds another layer of expertise to an institution focused on developing young footballers and strengthening the foundations of football in South Sudan.
Komoyangi is currently also on national duty with the South Sudan senior men's national team, serving as an assistant coach.
The FIFA Coach Educators Diploma comes as Komoyangi continues his pursuit of the CAF A Diploma through the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF). Lado is pursuing the same qualification through the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
A three-year journey
The journey towards the FIFA Coach Educators Diploma began in 2023, with Komoyangi and Lado combining virtual studies with practical coaching education.
The programme provided the coaches with opportunities to develop their understanding of coach education, methodology and practical delivery — skills that are particularly relevant to Komoyangi's role at FSFA.
His experience across different learning environments, including international training in Kenya, has contributed to a coaching profile that now combines youth development, coach education and senior national-team experience.
Growing coaching education in South Sudan
Komoyangi and Lado's achievement comes as South Sudan continues to expand its pool of qualified football coaching educators.
The country currently has 15 CAF Coach Educators: Dr. Salyi Lolaku Samuel, Lukudu Alhag Nicholas, Dr. Peter James Lado, Bilal Felix Komoyangi, Ramzi Sebit Lumori, Moses Zechariah Nogor, Mawien Deng Ajing, Musadag Ahmed Deng, Edmond Hassan Martin, George Pauline Liwa, Albino Simon Ajak, Augustino Charles, Esther Kide Kute, Dau Alaak Jok Alew and Sabino Domaso M.
Among the 15, Esther Kide Kute is the only female coach.
South Sudan currently has one CAF A Diploma holder, Dr. Salyi Lolaku Samuel, while eight coaches hold the CAF B Diploma and six hold the CAF C Diploma.
For Future Stars Football Academy, Komoyangi's latest qualification provides another important resource for the academy's technical department and its wider commitment to football development.
With the FSFA Technical Director continuing his CAF A Diploma studies while working with both the academy and the national team, his development reflects the growing pathway for South Sudanese coaches to gain international qualifications and contribute to the next generation of players and coaches.
