South Sudan has 64 tribes,among them is the renowned Jiɛɛŋ commonly called a Dinka Tribe.
Jiɛɛŋ is the biggest tribe in the Nation,which constitutes about 90% of the Population in Bahr El Ghazal Region and approximately 45% in Upper Nile Region.
Jiɛɛŋ of Bahr El Ghazal comprises of Aliap,Ciec Manyiel popularly known as Jiɛŋ, Agaar,Gɔk,Rek,JiɛrNyaŋ,and ŋɔk Deng Kuol popularly known as Ngok ( Abyei).
Jiɛɛŋ of Upper Nile on the other hand comprises of Bor,Twic,Hɔl,Nyarweŋ,Doŋjɔl,Bilkuei and Padaŋ etc.
Jiɛɛŋ as the other Name of Dinka is used mostly in honouring of Dinka whether it cultures,heritages,governance that is why we have “Jiɛɛŋ Council of Elders” as a Union currently in Juba.
That Union compose of all the Elders of Jiɛɛŋ regardless of which Region or Subsection one comes from.
So,Ciec popularly known as Jiɛŋ is a subsection of Jiɛɛŋ.
