The name, Moneni Pirates FC as well as logo, was inspired by South Africa's Orlando Pirates. At the time, it was a common trend for names of entities and places to be named after similar things within the Republic of South Africa due to the prevalence of migrant labour from Eswatini within the gold mines of South Africa.
