SALUTING TEAM ESWATINI: THE ROAD TO FUTURE HARDWARE STARTS AT THE NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES

The Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) formally welcomes home Team Eswatini from the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. While our athlete delegation did not require extra customs declarations for podium hardware this time around, they return with something far more sustainable for our sporting landscape. The team brings back elite global exposure, critical competitive experience, and a clear benchmark of exactly what it takes to win on the world stage. Our squad proved that local sports pipelines are steadily gaining momentum against world-class fields, stepping onto the international stage with pride and walking away with highly commendable Personal Best and Season Best performances.

Following their landing at the King Mswati III International Airport on Tuesday August 4th,The ESRC highly commends every athlete and coach for their heavy sacrifices, rigorous discipline, and proud ambassadorship in Scotland.

To ensure future senior delegations return home carrying the literal weight of gold, silver, and bronze, we are drastically restructuring the development pathway. In a powerful, united front, the ESRC is partnering directly with the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association - EOCGA (EOCGA) to manage this institutional overhaul. By fully aligning our national strategies, both organizations are immediately shifting collective focus to the historic, inaugural Eswatini National Youth Games, running from 14 to 17 August.

This milestone event serves as our combined active effort to build heavier senior luggage next time. By hosting top local youth athletes alongside international guest talent from Lesotho and Seychelles, the games will recreate a competitive environment to simulate high international pressure. The ESRC and EOCGA will actively use this event to scout, select, and polish the upcoming generation for high stakes International participation. This unified partnership ensures targeted institutional support right now, making our athletes elite before they ever board an international flight. It is time to measure sport by the depth of the foundation we build at home. Welcome back, Team Eswatini, Let us get back to the drawing board and build a winning sports nation together.
