One could not have even in the wildest of dreams imagined teams from the Shiselweni region squaring up in a game of this magnitude.
Truly this is a historic moment for Shiselweni football. It's unbelievable that this is happening in our lifetime, surely the football gods of the region are smiling in their graves. Throughout the years many teams have tried to represent the region but have always come short. They couldn't match the teams from the other regions, hence relegation was always the end result.
A number of factors were contributing to the poor performances of our teams, and the major one was the inability to host games. Shiselweni teams always had to travel to the other regions. As a result, some ended up struggling to honour games due to the high cost of travelling. So the upgrading of the King Sobhuza II Stadium has came in handy for local teams. The performances are there for all to see. We have had teams like Amalanda, Hlatikulu Tycoons, Young Movers, Nsingizini Hotspurs and Rangers performing well in the first division, with Nsingizini and Rangers getting promoted to the Premier League.
Currently we have Nkwene Sundowns and All Nations giving their best shots in the MTN first division, and one is optimistic that next season we will have five teams campaigning in the two PLE run leagues. One really appreciates the contributions made to our football by the directors of Rangers, Nsingizini Hotspurs, All Nations and Nkwene Sundowns. Without your vision and financial backing, the teams could have followed the part of those who came before them.
ALL ROADS LEAD TO NHLANGANO TOMORROW!!!!!
