Our 2026/27 Sea Kayaking Expedition Season is now open!

From the islands of Koh Chang, Trat Thailand to the remote coastlines beyond, we’ve put together another season of multi-day adventures for paddlers who want to explore Thailand from the water — not from a tour bus.

Day 5: The final stretch.

We left Bang Bao, turning back toward our base on the southeast side of Koh Chang-Salakphet

A shorter day on paper, 16 km… but one that gave us time to take it all in. The coastline, the rhythm of the paddling, and everything this journey has been over the past few days.

Five days. Changing tides. Different conditions every day. And a route that kept us adapting, exploring, and moving forward together.

We couldn’t have asked for a better group to close out the season. A big thank you to Craig, Peter, Stuart, and Stephan—our special guests—for joining us on this final trip of the 2025/2026 season. It’s been a real pleasure paddling with you.

Day 4: Another adventure-filled day along Koh Chang’s west coast.

We set off from White Sand Beach, heading south toward one of our favorite spots—Laem Chai Chet. Unfortunately, the water level wasn’t quite high enough for us to paddle inside this time… but that’s game.

From there, we continued on to Koh Suwan (which translates to “Golden Island”) and Koh Rom (literally “Umbrella Island”)—before stopping for lunch at Klong Prao Beach, our former home base and always a special place to return to.
In the afternoon, we pushed on to Koh Man Nai… which, if you translate it loosely, could be something like “Inner Potato/Oily Island”—we’ll go with that 😄

From here all the way down to Bang Bao, the conditions can be challenging—but the team handled it like pros.

We wrapped up the day in Bang Bao… which, as it turns out, has officially been voted the favorite spot of this trip.

Day 3: After starting the morning with Tu’s special pan-fried egg breakfast, we packed up and got moving.

Today’s goal: White Sand Beach—the most popular stretch on Koh Chang’s west coast.

We made our way along the coastline, passing Ao Sapparot, where ferries arrive to the island, before heading into another more exposed section—through the narrow gap between Koh Chang and Koh Chang Noi.

Conditions today were no joke. That channel acts like a wind tunnel, and the waves definitely kept us on our toes.

But the group handled it beautifully—steady, strong, and focused all the way through. We made it to our accommodation safely, just in time to catch a beautiful sunset to end the day.

Another solid day out on the water.

This is what real paddling looks like

Day 2: Today took us into one of the most remote stretches of Koh Chang—places that simply can’t be reached by road.

We set off from Tantawan Resort in the morning, paddling counterclockwise and heading north along the island’s east coast. The coastline here feels untouched—quiet, wild, and far from everything.

Along the way, we passed through Mu Ko Chang National Park, by Than Mayom Waterfall, before continuing on toward Dan Mai Village.

Dan Mai is one of the oldest communities on Koh Chang, once serving as an important local port and administrative center in the early days of the island. Even now, it still holds that sense of history—simple, grounded, and deeply connected to the sea.

This stretch is not always accessible. In fact, this is the first time this year we’ve been able to paddle this route. Earlier in the season, strong winds and rough conditions forced us to leave it out.

But today, it opened up for us.

23 km for the day.
And a route well worth the wait.

For those who’ve been following us for a while—you’ve probably noticed how low the tides have been lately. And yes, this is exactly what April to September looks like around Koh Chang… low tide in the daytime.

So for Day 1, we adapted.

We spent the day weaving our way through the islands—paddling past Koh Prao Nai, Koh Prao Nok, Koh Lao Ya Nai, Koh Mak, and Koh Lao Ya Nok—before reaching our stay at Tantawan Resort on the far eastern tip of Koh Chang.🏝

Along the way, especially around Salakphet during low tide, we passed local villagers out on the flats, collecting Asiatic hard clams—an ingredient used in many local dishes. 😋

Not a bad way to start the journey.

You’ve arrived for a special one—this is the final expedition of our 2025/2026 season!!!

April brings some of the lowest daytime tides of the year, so routes may shift and plans may adapt. But that’s exactly what sea kayaking here is about—reading the conditions, moving with the ocean, and discovering places that aren’t always accessible.

No fixed script. Just real exploration.

Over the next 5 days, we’ll paddle, adjust, explore—and create the kind of memories that only come from being out here together. Let’s make this last trip of the season count. 🙌

Last day of 7 days expedition with wonderful guests from Slovakia.

Koh Lao Ya → Koh Ngam → back to base.
