Heel in the belly, knee up, twisting. Most people say no thank you. So what is it for? I train the legs and arms to work in this zone, so that when I sit, I can benefit from it. The pose is not a party trick, it is preparation for stillness. What are your poses preparing you for?

When I talk about a strong nervous system, I don't mean lifting 50 kilos or being the fittest person alive. I mean this: can you carry your own body, with grace, with dignity? Ask the fittest person in the world to sit still for an hour and it can undo them, not the back or the legs, but a nervous system under stress that was never trained for it. Train that, and the body settles into a steady mind. How long can you sit, truly still?

Stimulation has become the currency of breathwork. Breathe more, breathe harder, chase the bigger high. But it is cheap, short-lived, and misses the real value. Get grounded at the base first, and what happens up in the head changes on its own. Invest in the higher quality breath, and stay centered. Chasing the high, or building the foundation?

One reason I do asana is to forget the body. I have trained it, so I can let it go. Sitting still, my awareness of the material form dissolves, until there is only the breath, and eventually even that softens away. But you do not get there by accident, it takes a little discipline done regularly. What would you meet if the body went quiet?

A long inhale is good. A long exhale calms you. But when you hold the breath, you hold the pressure, and something shifts at the cellular level. Done softly, the pause is where the magic lives. Ever played with holding the breath?

For 30 years, people have told me the same thing: my mind won't slow down. I get it, we are drowning in busyness. But the fix is the thing we run from, stillness. Sit, soften the breath, look at something you love. Do it for a few weeks and the restlessness starts to shift. When did you last sit still?

The old texts told you what a good seat should feel like. Steady. Comfortable. Supported.
They never told you how to get there.
Training the body only shows up in the last thousand years.

One breath, done fully, can change the next hour. Try it with me now. How is your breath right now?

No technique to master. Just press play and take a few slow breaths with me. Did that settle you?

Your body is not the obstacle to the practice. It is the instrument of it. What shifts the moment you stop fighting your body and start working with it. With it or against it, which is it for you?
