🏆 WYNFEST 2026: THE FINAL RECKONING
What a week with absolutely brilliant people! A massive thank you to our incredible staff who made it all possible, and to everyone who stuck around for an epic prize-giving ceremony.
The sheer scale of this year's competition was mind-blowing. Over the 5 days, there was 366 fish caught and a staggering 1,859 points accrued! Let’s see if we can smash that record next year. 🤯📊
Here is how the final leaderboard shook out after the final bonus adjustments:
👑 THE WINNERS: Simon & Darren (445 pts) Total runaway winners! Massive fair play to them for cracking the tactics and pulling off a comfortable win after two slow days to start. Watching Simon fish like a machine for 12 hours a day was painful ( for my back ) to watch, but exactly how a top matchman dominates a venue like ours in a competition environment. Shoutout to Darren too, bagging two superb Arapaima and a bonus Gar! 🐊
🥈 2nd Place: Harvey & Jalen (323 pts). An incredible week for these two, landing most of the big Redtails of the event and their fair share of 75lb+ bonus Siamese Carp. Special mention to Jalen—he started the week as a complete novice and ended it looking like a seasoned pro!
🥉 3rd Place: Tony & Graham H (305 pts). A massive shoutout to the main man, Tony, who did all the heavy lifting to organize this amazing event. Teaming up with Graham H, they started like a house on fire, but the fishing gods are cruel—they hit a brutal struggle on what we all thought was a fancied peg on the final day. That’s fishing!
4️⃣ Perren & Pedro – 268 pts
5️⃣ Mick & Tracey – 258 pts
6️⃣ Graham L & Mel – 250 pts

🏆 WYNFEST: THE GRAND FINALE (DAY 5)
After a heavy night out for a few of the crew, the final day started with some seriously bleary eyes. But duty called! A prompt 8:00 AM "all in" had everyone on the banks for the ultimate showdown, with everything left to play for.
Massive shoutout to all the teams for toughing it out through a brutal afternoon deluge of rain. You guys are absolute warriors! 🌧️💪
Here is how the final day shook out:
🎣 The Winners of the Day: Simon & Darren (Sala 4 - Coconut Peg) It was rinse and repeat for these two! Another tremendous display of Mekong fishing by the "Mekong Man" himself (landing 15 this time), with Darren chipping in on the bonuses. And what a bonus it was—an estimated 120lb+ Arapaima, his second of the week!
It just goes to show: if you have the energy and put the extra bait in, our Mekong Cats are there to be caught off every single peg.
🥈 2nd Place: Jayden & Harvey (Sala 3 - Deep Water) A massive shift for 91 points! They put in a strong, tactical display of Mekong and Carp fishing, capping it off with a bonus Alligator Gar right at the death. Brilliant angling.
🥉 3rd Place: Mick & Tracey (Sala 6 - Predator Corner) The resurgence continues! A fantastic display of Carp fishing from these two with 75 points keep their momentum rolling right to the whistle.
📉 The Heartbreak: Tony & Graham H (Sala 1 - Redtail Haven) The early pace-setters had a complete mare today. Despite fishing from the highly fancied Redtail Haven, they hit a wall and finished rock bottom on the day with just 16 points. That’s fishing for you!
The final day still produced over 90+ fish, even if it felt like a bit of an anticlimax with the overall leaders already flying high and out of reach.
📊 FULL DAY 5 RESULTS:
1️⃣ Simon & Darren – 116 pts
2️⃣ Jayden & Harvey – 91 pts
3️⃣ Mick & Tracey – 75 pts
4️⃣ Mel & Graham – 67 pts
5️⃣ Pedro & Perren – 49 pts
6️⃣ Tony & Graham H – 16 pts

Wynfest Day 4
Another scintillating day of fishing as the TopCats Lake continues to fish well. Carp and "smaller" Mekong catfish continued to dominate, as expected under competition conditions. At the end of Day 4, an incredible 286 fish had been landed, averaging nearly 50 fish per pair.
Here is how the day unfolded:
Sala 3 (Deep Water): Simon and Darren have definitely cracked it and won the day for the 2nd day in a row. With Darren targeting bonus fish and carp, they amassed 142 points and Simon landed 18 Mekong catfish. They won the daily bonus for the most fish for the second day running, marking the best points total of the week so far. On the final day, they will move to Sala 4 (The Coconut). Let's see if the continues
Sala 6 (Predator Corner): Tony and Malcolm had a steady day. They finished 2nd on the day with 77 points. While there wasn't a Rohu in sight, they were helped by a couple of bonus carp. It is great to see these "big girls" showing, mostly in the end, two Salas during the late afternoon.
Sala 5 (Carp Channel): First-day winners Mick and Tracey sprang to life. After a slow start, the peg came into life as some big carp honed in on their bait. A late Arapaima helped them secure 3rd place on the day with 63 points
Redtail Appearances: After a quiet week some I Redtails at last made an appearance, including a last-minute catch for Graham L on Sala 1 (Redtail Haven) and three for Jayden and Harvey from Sala 2 (Heavens Point).

WYNFEST DAY 3: Just when you think the fishing couldn't get any better... think again! 🎣💥
Some of teams have officially cracked the code here at TopCats. Day 3 just delivered some of the most spectacular, mind-blowing fishing we have ever seen in a single day. 🤯
Here is how an unbelievable day unfolded:
🏆 1st on the Day: Simon & Darren (Heavens Point / Sala 2)– 141 pts.
Fair play to Simon, who absolutely shattered the lake record for Mekong Cats landing a mahoosive 23 of them in a single day! 🦖 Backed up by partner Darren, who landed a massive Arapaima ( see yesterday’s reel)and a very nice Alligator Gar.

🥈 2nd on the Day: Graham L & Mel – 95 pts Coming up on the rails! They got the carp absolutely rocking in the Predator Corner swim Sala 6), landing two bonus ones over 75lb; one was a monster, estimated at 110lb and the biggest carp of the week. I even witnessed them hit a double hook-up with two 70lb+ fish at the same time! 😲
🥉 3rd on the Day: Pedro & Perren – 61 pts. The absolute highlight of their day was a huge, dramatic evening-time Alligator Gar caught right in the margin. 🐊
🔥 The Big Fish Specialists: Harvey & Jayden – 54 pts For the 3rd day in a row, they bagged the 5 bonus points for the biggest fish. Jayden (yes, the guy who had never fished before this week!) landed a massive 200lb+ Arapaima at the very last knockings! 🦖🔥
🎣 Overall Leaders: Tony & Graham H netted 55 pts from the Carp Channel and are still holding onto the top spot ,helped yet again by a bonus Rohu ( nicely modelled by Mai Mai) and a cute Giant Gourami caught by Graham for extra bonus points.
