I blocked the 1st of March & told my husband, “We’re going to NY for a trip. The only show we’ll book in advance is .” The next am the closing posted.
What followed was an insane scramble to find even a 24-hour window to fly up. I explained it to him,”You know how we flew to Barcelona to see Messi & now we could drive to Miami but haven’t?” He got it.
I‘ve been talking about this show since introducing composer to Henry years ago. I know I will see it. I know it will live on. I know it’s impact will continue to ripple through the industry. I’m just sad I couldn’t see it in this moment.
