PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 COMES CLOSE TO LA28 OLYMPIC QUOTAS AT AICHI-NAGOYA 2026

Team Philippines came within striking distance of securing Olympic qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games 🇺🇸 through the seven Asian Games sports that offered a LA28 qualification pathway.

Filipino athletes made notable runs in Archery, Surfing and Tennis highlighted by Amaya Amparo Cojuangco’s 🥈 in Archery, Jayuard Alciso’s Bronze🥉 in men’s shortboard Surfing and Alex Eala’s Bronze 🥉 in women’s singles Tennis.

Despite reaching the podium in these events, the Philippines ultimately did not secure an LA28 quota through the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games as the available Olympic places were awarded through specific qualification criteria and events.

Nevertheless, these near misses showcased the Philippines’ growing competitiveness across these Olympic sports and brought Filipino athletes closer to earning a historic early ticket to Los Angeles 2028.

Philippines 🇵🇭 Drops to 4TH in All-Time Asian Games Medal Table among Southeast Asian Nations

The Philippines has been surpassed by Malaysia in the all time medal tally of Southeast Asian nations at the Asian Games dropping the country to 4th place with 75 Gold 🥇 125 Silver 🥈 and 257 Bronze 🥉 medals for a total of 457 medals 🏅

Malaysia now occupies 3rd with 78 Gold 🥇 116 Silver🥈 and 182 Bronze 🥉 medals giving them 376 total medals 🏅 While the Philippines still holds a significant advantage in total medals, Malaysia's three medal lead in gold has moved them ahead in the traditional ranking system highlighting the growing competition among Southeast Asian nations on the Asian Games stage.

Followed by 𝗧𝗮𝗲𝗸𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼 with 1 Gold 🥇 3 Silvers 🥈🥈🥈 and 1 Bronze 🥉
