Fulfilled Purpose Coaching

Really enjoyed being one of the coaches for this workshop organized by the Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce (FTCC)

Putting some notes down here in case it’s helpful for anyone.

My observations about Gen Z:
- They connect well with each other, with new people, new situations they are fast learners.
- They feel all the feels. They feel a lot, they care a lot, and they are not afraid to express it.
- Less fear of the future than other generations.
- Willingness to try new things.
- They live for experiences.

As a leader, reframe your words and employ coaching style conversations to glean understanding and create alignment.

When they are missing the target or your expectations: “Let’s work through this together. How can I better equip you? What else would you need to do this effectively?”

Allow them to have a say in setting deadlines and calibrate as needed: “How much time do you think this will take?”

When you sense a lack of urgency on an important task: “If this doesn’t get done by [the deadline], what do you think are the consequences to ____?”

Challenge them to offer their perspective and taking ownership of the solution: “Help me think out of the box here - what am I not seeing?”

“What do you think would be the best way?“

By asking these questions, you are not giving up control or letting yourself be manipulated. Let them know that you value their input but communicate clearly that the final decision isn’t up to them. They are still held accountable for producing quality work and will receive feedback accordingly. You are still the boss!

Consider and filter their input. Model for them this coaching style so they can ask these questions of you too!
