🤴The Kings up 🤴

After drawing only one game on Saturday it was clear that the Thai elephants celebrated a lot Saturday night. The first game on Sunday was won by a beautiful backhand of our captain Lois.

Our 2nd game was against Singapore who we also faced during ZOAT. After a draw we went to shootout. Unfortunately the odds were not in our favour and we lost the shootouts.

We had an amazing tournament a lot of fun and could connect with other teams.
Next year the Thai elephants will be crowned 👑 🐘

Special thanks to all the teams and RBSC for making the event so successful!

Hi everyone,

Ahead of the weekend, we would like to share a cause that goes much beyond hockey.
Earlier this year, our hearts were shattered when Max (Achyut Kukreja), a vibrant seven-year-old boy with an infectious smile and an indomitable spirit, lost his battle against thalassemia — a genetic blood disorder that affected his ability to produce enough healthy red blood cells.
Though Max is no longer with us, his strength continues to inspire us. In his honor, we are raising funds for the Achyut Kukreja Thalassemia Foundation (ATF), just founded by Max’s father.

Currently headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, where thalassemia is still prevalent, the Achyut Kukreja Thalassemia Foundation's mission is to offer comprehensive support to families affected by thalassemia and it aims to expand its reach globally to assist individuals and families affected by the disease. The foundation plans to raise awareness and funds through widespread thalassemia testing. This also includes facilitating support groups, connecting individuals with qualified physicians and hospitals, and advocating for research aimed at eliminating the disease. By providing support, guidance, and access to expert care, ATF seeks to empower individuals living with thalassemia and ultimately contribute to the eradication of this disease.

Supporting the Achyut Kukreja Thalassemia Foundation, the Thai Elephants hockey team comes together in the spirit of Max’s bravery. During the ZOAT Field Hockey Tournament in Kuala Lumpur this November, the Bangkok Hockey festival in December, the 2025's Hockey league and beyond, we’ll not only be playing to win — we’ll be Playing for MAX. Through every goal, every sprint, and every swing of the stick, we aim to raise funds for the ATF, bringing hope to countless families fighting thalassemia.

Every donation helps bringing hope to those still fighting. Please consider joining us in this important cause. Let’s make sure Max’s legacy lives on.

If you are willing to participate, even for a tiny bit, feel free to visit this link. Any help is highly appreciated!

Last Thursday, we played the infamous "Farang Cup" against Bangkok Inter (Former Ho***rs).

They came out very strong from the starting blocks and scored a beautiful goal early in the first quarter. Through a well-executed variation, they freed up Johan, and he calmly and powerfully placed the ball in the bottom corner, making it 0-1. The Thai Elephants wouldn't be the Thai Elephants if they didn't straighten their backs, ultimately pulling the game in their favor. The second and third quarters were significantly in favor of the Elephants, resulting in a splendid backhand goal from Hugo and a nice penalty corner variation concluded by Thijs, making it 2-1. Like true warriors, the Elephants dominated the rest of the game, and the victory was never in jeopardy.
Late in the match, Floris, aka FLOKI, scored his first goal for the Thai Elephants with a tip-in after a fantastic assist from Great Liezinga, making it 3-1.

A delightful victory and a fantastic start to the season. Thanks to all the supporters for coming out, and thanks to all the sponsors for making the existence of our team possible.
On to the next match Thursday 8th of February against RBSC 7:50PM!

The first week of the annual league is a wrap!

This week, we faced off against two top contenders for the title and ended with a draw and a loss. We tied 1-1 against ACDC and lost 3-0 against RTAF. While scoreboards may not tell the whole story, it's worth noting that we played better against RTAF than we did against ACDC. These two matches provided us with valuable lessons, and we'll carry that knowledge with us into the rest of the league.

Looking ahead, we don't have match next week, giving us plenty of time to practice and prepare for our upcoming match against BKK Inter A. This matchup is informally known as "The Farang Cup" and is highly anticipated, featuring a clash between two very passionate expat teams. Save the date for February 1st – you won't want to miss it!

Throw back last weekend of November and the ZOAT tournament held in Bangkok!
Despite difficult pitch conditions due to the bad weather the days before, this weekend was a great success, a lot of fun to finally be able to host teams from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh City, and beyond (19 teams in total) after 2 years of waiting due to Covid!!

Following a great first phase of the tournament finishing first of its pool, the Thai Elephants 1 finally finished 3rd of the tournament, after an unfortunate defeat against Singapore in the semifinal at the penalty shoot-out.
Big up to the Thai Elephants 2 securing the 6th spot and to the Bangkok Babes (5th of the Women tournament).
Congratulations to the Regionalisten team that won the Men's tournament and Singapore team for the Women!!
Great thanks to RBSC for their support in hosting the tournament and all their support before and during ZOAT.

Now, getting ready for the RBSC Bangkok League 2023!!

ZOAT, see you in Jakarta next year!

Last Thursday was the last training of Wisse and Sully, two of our legends, that go back to their home after having more than shined with the jersey of the Thai Elephants these last years!
Good occasion to gather (almost) all of the Bangkok Thai Elephants family and introduce the new kits (and sponsor) for 2022 onwards!

See you very soon guys!
