Asian Rowing Federation was established in 1982 to encourage the value of rowing in Asia. It has 36 national federations.

On October 3, 2022, Admiral Chainarong Charoenrak, President of ARF, presented a Medal of Honor to Mr. Naotake Okubo, the former President of Japan Rowing Association who dedicated his expertise of rowing for all Asian Rowers. He was the significant and worked hard person in rowing competition during Olympic Tokyo 2020.
