3h work underwater to free a 10m high rudder on a container ship

26/05/2026

A container carrier Vessel was experiencing difficulty manoeuvring SW of Phuket when they contacted us Friday evening. By Saturday, we arranged deep sea port authorities for her to drop anchor at a safe place. Ocean Zone Divers came with a smaller boat and all equipment the day after. The problem was identified at the rudder, with many fishing ropes entangled in the massive 10m high rudder. After 3h underwater, we managed to clear the rudder axis and provided video footage before and after work to the ship master and the engineer. Pleased with our work they congratulated us before leaving anchor 1h after on their voyage.
