A look back at the beautiful moments from the annual ceremony of returning Phra Singh to its sacred place at Viharn Lai Kham.

Every year during Songkran, this important Buddha image is brought out for the public to take part in the traditional water pouring ritual — a symbolic act of blessing and renewal. Once the ceremony is complete, Phra Singh is respectfully returned to the viharn in a graceful procession.

Phra Singh, or Phra Buddha Sihing, remains one of the most sacred Buddha images in Northern Thailand. For the Lanna community, this is more than just a tradition — it’s a powerful cultural moment that connects people with faith, heritage, and a sense of continuity. Many believe that being part of this ritual brings good fortune throughout the year.

Viharn Lai Kham itself continues to impress with its classic Lanna design — detailed wood carvings and historic mural paintings that reflect stories from the past.

Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan has stood alongside the people of Chiang Mai for over 680 years, since its founding in 1345 during the reign of King Phayu. It remains not only a place of worship, but a timeless symbol of Lanna identity.

Even after the festival, the atmosphere and energy from that day still linger — a reminder of how deeply rooted these traditions are.

ทุกปีในช่วงสงกรานต์ จะมีการอัญเชิญพระสิงห์ออกมาให้ประชาชนได้สรงน้ำ เพื่อความเป็นสิริมงคล และเมื่อเสร็จสิ้นพิธี ก็จะมีการอัญเชิญกลับขึ้นประดิษฐานอย่างสมเกียรติ

พระสิงห์ หรือพระพุทธสิหิงค์ เป็นพระพุทธรูปคู่บ้านคู่เมืองของเชียงใหม่ ที่ชาวล้านนาเคารพศรัทธามาอย่างยาวนาน ใครที่ได้มีโอกาสเข้าร่วมพิธีในวันนั้น ต่างก็เชื่อว่าได้รับพลังดีๆ และความเป็นสิริมงคลกลับไป

วิหารลายคำยังคงโดดเด่นด้วยศิลปะล้านนาแท้ ทั้งงานไม้แกะสลักและจิตรกรรมฝาผนังที่งดงามและทรงคุณค่า

วัดพระสิงห์วรมหาวิหารแห่งนี้ มีอายุกว่า 680 ปี สร้างขึ้นตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 1888 (ค.ศ. 1345) ในสมัยพญาผายู เป็นวัดคู่บ้านคู่เมืองที่อยู่เคียงข้างชาวล้านนามาหลายชั่วอายุคน

แม้งานจะจบไปแล้ว แต่บรรยากาศและความรู้สึกดีๆ ของวันนั้นยังคงอยู่

Doi Suthep E-Bike Journey Trip 🚴‍♂️✨

The morning adventure begins at the school, where we get ready to set off on our Freedare e-bikes.

📍Before heading uphill, we stop for a light breakfast in the Suthep area the main road leading to Doi Suthep to fuel up and enjoy the peaceful morning atmosphere of the local community.

📍From there, we ride past Chiang Mai University, soaking in the lively campus vibe before entering the mountain road that leads toward our first destination.

📍Our first stop is Wat Pha Lat, a hidden forest temple nestled in serene natural surroundings. Here, riders can relax, enjoy a small waterfall, and take in the calm and spiritual atmosphere that feels very different from typical temples.

📍As we continue climbing, we pause at scenic viewpoints to admire the panoramic views of Chiang Mai. From above, the city unfolds beneath the surrounding mountains - a breathtaking moment that’s hard to forget.

📍The route then leads us to the most iconic destination: Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the spiritual symbol of Chiang Mai. Visitors can pay respects to the sacred stupa, explore beautiful Lanna architecture, and absorb the peaceful atmosphere at the mountaintop.

📍Afterward, we enjoy a relaxing ride back down the mountain, feeling the cool breeze and taking in the scenery along the way.

📍We finish the journey with lunch at a local restaurant, savoring authentic Northern Thai flavors.

The day ends with a sense of freshness, renewed energy, and lasting memories - connecting nature, culture, and the spirit of Chiang Mai in one unforgettable experience. 😁
