Hey there fellow HUSO family! How’s your day been? It hasn't been wet and dark in a while now, has it? Speaking of darkness, let’s take a look at the different words we use for a handheld device that we carry around to shine a light in the dark. Flashlight and torch!

In American English, and what is commonly known throughout the world, we say flashlight. But in British English it's called a torch instead. Well, the British word might seem a little bit confusing but its full name is actually “electric torch.”

Hearing this word from a British person, you might think of a burning stick, but fear not, in the context of British English it’ll most likely just be referring to a flashlight! What do you guys think about this? Do you prefer a torch or a flashlight? Which one’s cooler? Not that there’s any actual difference!

It's been raining a lot lately, hasn’t it? How have you guys been? Either way, now that it’s almost the weekend and the bugs are coming out, how about something to read? And speaking of bugs, we've got something about that actually.

Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka! The story follows Gregor Samsa as he found himself transformed into a giant bug one day and how everything unfolded between him and his family. That’s as much as we can say...at least without spoiling everything.

As we all know, elephants are Thailand’s national animal. But do you ever wonder what is the closest living relative to the gentle giant? One could guess that it might be something akin to the Rhino or another large animal. But it’s probably not what you think.

Meet Hyrax (Procavia capensis), a rodent-like creature that is making waves around the internet lately. An apparent relative of the elephant, it is native to Africa, with the exception of the "Rock" variant, which can be found in parts of the Middle East. Although it is disputed by some, it is undeniably incredibly funny that these things might really be related to elephants.

What do you think of this strange creature?

Everyone is currently engrossed with the Nagatitan and rightfully so! The dinosaur train truly isn’t over yet. Speculation arises that more dinosaurs will be revealed in the Khon Kaen region soon now that Thai archaeologists are back on track in search of fossils in the regions.
