Round 3 Day 3
Thank you to Ocean Marina Jomtien for putting on a cracking regatta.
Final day, AP ashore for an hour with maximum 29knts recorded.
The RO called AP down at 11.30 with a steady 20knts and a sea state that looked like 30knts 😳
It was a matter of who dares first on the 1st downwind and the margin at the bottom mark was actually negligible. There were a couple of oopsies but tight fought race in the end. Very much survival mode.
Breeze abated for 2nd race to 16knts and surfing the swell downwind and staying upright was a challenge with some great rides, just no opportunity for onboard footage, plenty on dot com for a boat that's over powered in 10knts.
The final results saw Gary Stocks and Nathan Masopust equal on 18 points with Gary winning on a count back.
Overall fantastic result for Nathan and for all competitors.
Congratulations to Team Bondi Tram they fought back from some issues to get the result.
Join the fun for the next Round in September 4th to 6th.

Round 3 Day 2
Hosted by Ocean Marina Jomtien.
A little less breeze to start today and very steady from 200 at 8-14knts with fairly flat sea. Great sailing conditions.
Thammasak Meeyousamsen the RO got the full 5 races off today with the teams back in by 3.30pm.
Challenge Sailcloth skippered by Nathan Masopust had an average day after blitzing the fleet yesterday.
Boat of the Day today goes to Gary Stocks on Bondi Tram with Peter Farrugia the current rear commodore of RPAYC, Peter Winter and a couple of local talented sailors who are thoroughly enjoying the close racing these platus provide.
Justin Brownbill had a much better day. Aaron Scott Taunt had a challenging day with David Aylward also improving day on day with a little oopsie that prevented them from transforming their results today.
Last day tomorrow with enough races to allow a 2nd drop which could change the results.

Round 3 racing kicked off just after the 11am scheduled time, about a mile off Ocean Marina Jomtien at the beautiful Na Jomtien Beach.
The Art of Ocean Market Pattaya is also happening this weekend come and enjoy the market vibe.
We have great competition up for this Round with Gary Stocks from RPAYC, David Aylward from St George 16 Foot Sailing Club (with some seasoned veteran's😳), Justin Brownbill on Botany Access/Easy Tiger, Aaron Scott Taunt has once again chartered a boat along with some locals and Nathan Masopust has the "King" Steve McConaghy assisting his program with some solid results today.
There's some intense chatter in regards to a certain race and results will be posted once determined.
The competition is very close.

Last day of Round 2 brought some stormy conditions and not much wind with an AP ashore for 1 hour. The breeze built pretty quickly to 16-18knts from 190.
Chris Way got a win in the 1st race closely followed by Aaron Taunt & Rolf Heemskerk that were now fighting for the remaining podiums. Colin Simonds & Nathan Masopust were also close by.
The Racing was very tight at mark roundings in most cases 2 or 3 boats overlapped.
Easy Tiger took the overall with The Next Factor 2nd and Aargh & Aargh taking a well deserved 3rd.
Check out SEA Yachting Magazine for some photos of the Coronation weekend.
Thank you again to Ocean Marina Jomtien for the continued support.
We hope you can join the Racing one day as well.

Day 3 Coronation weekend at Ocean Marina Jomtien.
Another great day in paradise with 1 race dispatched quickly in a steady 12knts from 195.
The clouds rolled in over the shoreline moving south although there was still great breeze to get Race 2 away, however, the breeze had different ideas and our mark rounding turned into another upwind with wind shiftig 180deg.
Race was abandoned and we all enjoyed the sites of Jomtien from the water whilst the light rain cooled all the Teams down, relief 🥵
The RO managed to get another race off with Rolf Heemskerk picking the shift of the day and sailing away with a win, followed by Boat of the Day skippered by Aaron Taunt. Nathan Masopust had a solid day with Colin Simonds feeling he had offended the sailing gods, Chris Way had an average day and still retains the lead leading into the last day.
Final night of the The Art Market at Ocean Marina with food and entertainment open to all.

Day 2 of the Coronation Weekend started with a short AP until the breeze settled in from 305 at 8-12knts. Chris Way, Aaron Taunt & Rolf Heemskerk all got wins today. Breeze shifted left all day with a rain squall as the fleet approached the finish, cooling the teams down. Breeze increased gradually to 14-16knts with plenty of boat work to keep these Platu's on their feet. Shift of the day goes to Aaron Taunt with a well picked righty in race 2. Very close racing again today often with 4 boats overlapped at marks.
Another 2 days to go.
Thank you again to Ocean Marina Jomtien for hosting the Championship.

Round 2 kicked off with some localised storm cells threatening the usually perfect conditions, thankfully they dispersed and a southerly breeze settled in. The full moon created a natural phenomenon with the coral spawn coating the water surface making it difficult to read the breeze.
RO Thammasak Meeyousamsen managed to get 4 races away with breeze shifting from 170-185 at 5-10knts. Easy Tiger picked up a nice shift and took the 1st race. Aaron Scott Taunt took the 2nd race and Rolf Heemskerk won 3rd and 4th races. Plenty of snakes and ladders with Colin Simonds and Nathan Masopust sharing podium finishes. The racing is tight and not much separates the teams. Another 3 days to go with up to a further 13 races.
All the teams are now relaxing at Ocean Marina Jomtien enjoying the sponsored burgers and ice cold beer.
