UNDP, in partnership with the Government of Tajikistan, supported the First International Scientific and Practical Conference on Development Management, focused on strengthening the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) system for more effective and risk-informed strategic planning.
The conference brought together national and local authorities, development partners, academia, and civil society to discuss:
✅ Advancing the Medium-Term Development Programme 2026–2030
✅ Strengthening inter-ministerial coordination and institutional capacity
✅ Localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through planning and data
✅ Leveraging digital tools for evidence-based decision-making
✅ Integrating climate change adaptation (CCA) and disaster risk reduction (DRR) into local development programmes and strategic planning documents, including the Socio-Economic Development Programmes of Dushanbe City and Sughd Region for the period 2026–2030.
UNDP is proud to support Tajikistan in building an integrated system where strategies, monitoring, and learning work together — from national policies to local implementation — to deliver real results for people.
🤝 Together, we are fostering a culture of evidence-based, inclusive, and climate-resilient governance.

✔️UNDP held its Country Programme Board Meeting, co-chaired by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade and the UNDP Resident Representative, with participation from key government partners.
The meeting reviewed progress in 2025 and discussed priorities for 2026 under UNDP Tajikistan’s Country Programme (2023–2026), across three areas: governance, environment and climate, and economic development.
In 2025, more people were able to earn an income, learn new skills, and find work closer to home.
For many families, this meant greater stability and fewer risks linked to migration.
In rural areas, people are better able to cope with climate and disaster risks. Households are using cleaner energy, and communities are better prepared for shocks that affect their livelihoods.
Access to basic services also improved. People can now receive documents faster, get legal support when needed, and rely more on public services that are easier to use — especially for women and those living in remote areas.
🤝 The Board welcomed the progress made and agreed on priorities for the coming year, highlighting the importance of continued cooperation.

🤝 Awareness means preparedness. And preparedness is at the heart of climate adaptation.
🌾 Climate change is reshaping seasons — hotter sun, later rains, stronger winds — affecting livelihoods across the region. For farmers, this means uncertainty. Knowing when to plant or protect crops can make all the difference. Timely weather information is key to adapting — helping reduce risks and make better decisions.
Through the National Adaptation Plan project, supported by the Green Climate Fund, UNDP works with the Government of Tajikistan to understand climate risks and integrate adaptation into national planning.

🌍
🤝 One Region, One Goal: A Seismic-Resilient Central Asia
Central Asian nations, in Tashkent, marked the first International Day of Remembrance of Earthquake Victims by signing a historic Joint Statement to strengthen regional safety.
UNDP Tajikistan joined regional leaders and the Government of Japan to launch a new $4.9M project dedicated to modernizing early warning systems and disaster response.
In Tajikistan, UNDP remains a key partner in earthquake preparedness—from upgrading monitoring tech to ensuring local communities are ready for the unexpected.
We aren't just remembering the past; we are actively building a safer future for every citizen in the region.

Turning Recovery into Resilience: Supporting Health Services in Earthquake-Affected Tajikabad
Following the April 2025 earthquake, which severely disrupted access to essential health services in the Tajikabad district, urgent action was needed to restore care for affected communities.
In response, UNDP in Tajikistan with support from United Nations Development Programme - UNDP Crisis Bureau and in close partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Tajikistan, procured and handed over essential medical equipment to support the restoration of local health services.
This demonstrates how coordinated action can protect lives and restore dignity in the aftermath of the earthquake.
The support includes an X-ray machine and two ultrasound systems, provided to the Central District Hospital of Tajikabad District - strengthening diagnostic capacity for over 14,000 people in surrounding communities.
This support goes beyond immediate recovery and restoration. It represents a strategic investment in resilient, people-centred health systems, ensuring that even in remote areas, communities can access timely and accurate diagnostics closer to home.
This is particularly critical for women, older persons, and people with limited mobility, while also enabling earlier detection, timely treatment, and safer maternal health services.
As climate- and disaster-related risks intensify, strengthening frontline health infrastructure is essential to safeguarding development gains and reducing vulnerability.
Through its partnership with the Government of Tajikistan, UNDP is not only responding to immediate needs, but also helping to build systems that can withstand future shocks.
