But most of all, I am slowly learning how to just be in this moment. How to exist. How to understand that I cannot control life, that I can only experience it in both its light and dark stages. I am slowly learning how to laugh and cry and feel through it all, how to welcome the confusion and joy that come with loving and living and breaking. I am slowly learning how to accept where I am. I am slowly learning how to simply believe in the person I am becoming.

Fascia is like one big interconnected spider web of tissue in our body that helps us make coordinated movements and keep our body position intact. Our fascia acts as an inner scaffolding by attaching, stabilising, supporting, enclosing, and separating muscles and our internal organs. The importance of of this massive organ cannot be understated. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
The fascial layers targeted in yin yoga are those hard to reach, deep layers that we donβt stimulate or work in heated yang-style classes. These deep connective tissues layers are composed of collagen, which gives tissue its elasticity and resilience. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
In a yin yoga practice, postures are held for a longer length of time (over 3 minutes), to achieve relaxation of the muscles into the deeper fascial layers. It is still extremely important and highly recommended to use props during these longer holds so as to avoid 'hanging out' or causing long term injury to the joints, especially for those who are hypermobile.
